Your donations help create a world where justice, freedomand dignity are not the birthright of a privileged few, but the reality for all.

You are part of a movement that helped free and reunite Iranian doctors Arash and Kamiar Alaei who were jailed for their ground breaking work on HIV/AIDs with US institutions. The brothers said the campaign by Amnesty International and others gave them hope.“When we got the message about your campaign through our family, it was like getting new blood that warmed our hearts and gave us energy to be strong, to tolerate the situation, and not to become broken.” It is because of your contribution that we have

been able to respond rapidly to the crisis in the Middle East and North Africa region, calling for freedom and justice, and an end to the violent crackdowns by authorities. Last year marked the beginning of a human rights breakthrough in the region as millions of ordinary people stood up to demand action, which led to three oppressive governments being removed from power.

Your support has fueled our relentless campaigning forMyanmar’s political prisoners over the many years. Last October, over 200 political prisoners were released including Su Su Nway, Zaw Htet Ko Ko and comedian Zarganar who wasserving a 35 year sentence for criticising the government.Authorities have also lightened up their internet surveillance and increased engagement with opposition parties, which are all positive signs that international pressure, includingour letters, petitions and lobbying are having impact.

Through our campaign for International Justice, you are helping to bring the world’s worst offenders to justice for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. We continue to demandgovernments cooperate fully with the International Criminal Court to arrest suspects and surrender them for trial. Since the situation in Syria deteriorated in March 2011, over 166,000 supporters have signed a petition calling on the UN Security Council to refer Syrian leaders to the ICC for possible crimes against humanity. Your generosity has enabled us to effectively call for an end to violence against women in the (issue in the region. Last year, we presented 21,000 signatures to the President of Kiribati during the ()#*+violence. Last year, more than 165,000 supporters signed our global petition calling for the closure of North Korea’s repressive-44444inmates. 100 kilos of petitions were offered to the North Korean Embassy in Switzerland this month. Thank you foradding your voice to ours as we continue to demand an end to these camps.
