Dear Parishioners and Friends
One of the headlines in the media over the past week or so has been about
the Cautious Re-opening of Churches for Public Worship. Needless to say,
I have spent many hours in consultation with the priests of our deanery
and with members of our two pastoral councils discussing how we are to
move forward with the public celebration of Mass.
It is important to recognize that we do not have a free hand in these
arrangements but we are being strictly directed by government and
archdiocesan guidelines. We do not have the facility for opening St
Elizabeth’s church for the time being but Mass will be streamed every
morning at 0930 from St Elizabeth’s.
Some general norms have been published for us to follow and consider:
• A church can only be opened for Mass once it has been made ready
and approved by the Dean on behalf of the Archbishop.
Arrangements will include that after every Mass the church must be
sanitised.
• The health and safety of parishioners is of the greatest importance.
The vulnerable and those who are unsure about their personal safety
should carefully consider the wisdom of returning to Mass too soon.
They are not obliged to do so. The Sunday obligation has not been
re-instated.
• Those who can come to Mass on a weekday are encouraged to come
then, leaving Sunday Mass for those unable to come during the week
• *Because of social distancing guidelines St Anne’s church can only
accommodate about 60 people in one Mass. Please do not take
offence if you come and find that there is no room left. Stewards will
be there to guide you to your place. Please be aware that it may not
be where you usually sit.
• You are asked to bring your own face covering which you may lower
when coming to receive Holy Communion.
• You are asked not to bring shopping or other large personal items to
church as people will leave church directly after receiving Holy
Communion without returning to your places.
• The toilet will not be open.
• It is anticipated that Mass will last about 30 minutes; there will be no
singing.
• You are asked to sit or stand at the appropriate times during Mass;
no kneeling. This is to ensure social distancing. Also, please bow to
the altar and to the Blessed Sacrament and no genuflecting.
It has been very difficult estimating how many people are likely to
come to Mass. Places are limited. On Mondays and Fridays please
come in the hope that there will be room. For those wishing to come
to Mass on Sundays it will be necessary to telephone in advance to
see that there is room for you and your family. Please ring: St Anne’s
Priory 01695 572168 Option 1 and leave your name and phone
number. If there is a problem we shall come back to you.
On St Anne’s webpage please read the leaflet What to Expect which
contains information about some of the changes you will find when you
come to celebrate Mass.
Times of Mass in St Anne’s Church from Monday 13th July:
Mondays and Fridays Mass at 1200
Sunday Mass at 1100
NB: The church will open only 10 minutes before Mass begins
Wednesday Mass streamed from church at 1200 without a
Congregation.
Very many thanks for your understanding and patience. We are all
feeling our way forward without knowing how all this is going to end. It
may be necessary to make some changes but please God we shall go
ahead in faith, hope and charity. I really look forward to welcoming you
to St Anne’s.
A Thank You from Deacon Des.
Thank you to all who have sent best wishes, cards and gifts in acknowledgement of my Silver Anniversary to the Diaconate. I was expecting the anniversary to go unnoticed in light of lockdown, but many of you decided that was not to be the case. It was wonderful that Fr Godric and Fr Boniface celebrated a thanksgiving Mass with Joan and me in the Priory garden. We will find time to celebrate as a parish family sometime soon. In the meantime, thank you for the parish gift of Book Tokens - much appreciated. I feel our experience of the pandemic has shown me we should not miss opportunities, when they present themselves, to celebrate and give thanks to God, for all that is good in our lives. God bless. Des
Anniversaries (Last 10 yrs up to Sat 11 July 2020).

Remember 18th April?
This was the day when our two parishes were to celebrate with Fr Godric his Golden
Jubilee of Ordination. When this had to be cancelled, donations from parishioners
towards Jubilee gifts were put to one side. Over 2 months later with no celebrations
in sight the Jubilee gifts, in the form of cheques, were presented to Fr Godric on
behalf of St Anne's and St Elizabeth's parishioners, along with
renewed congratulations and best wishes. This presentation was a very muted affair
but will be followed, when circumstances allow, by a lively parish celebration or even
two.
Supporting our Community.
It is so important at this difficult time that we maintain contact and offer support
to our parish community.
We know that many parishioners are already helping others in this way. However,
if you do know of anyone else who would like to receive a phone call - especially if
they are self-isolating or on their own - please do contact
St Anne’s Parish Office: Tel 01695 572168 or email [email protected] or
contact
St Elizabeth’s Parish Office:
Tel 01704 880226 or email [email protected]
or any PPC member (by phone or email) or email [email protected]
with details and we can arrange calls to them. We may also be able to offer to
shop or collect medication as requested.
Please also ensure that those who can access the internet are aware that
reflections, prayers and other spiritual resources are on our website, alongside the
weekly Bulletin, keeping us in contact with our Clergy and also helping us to
deepen our faith at this difficult time.
We already have a number of parish volunteers who have offered to support our
community if required. Although at the moment we have had only a few requests
for assistance, if you also wish to offer your support, please email ppc@st-annes-
ormskirk.org.uk or [email protected] and let us know what you
might be able to do.
Anyone whose services are employed will, in return, be supported by a member of
the PPC.
Do look after yourselves and each other and keep our communities in your
prayers.

5th July 2020 14th Sunday of Year A Introduction: Together make the sign of the cross.
Do your mum and dad know everything? Sometimes grown-ups seem very clever and know all the answers. Today Jesus tells us that it wasn't always the clever people who understood him, often it was those who had child-like hearts.
Gospel (You may like to light a candle)
One day Jesus said, ‘Praise to you, Father, for you have not chosen to reveal
yourself to the clever and the wise, but to those who see the world through
child-like eyes.
You have shared your wisdom with those filled with innocence and
simplicity.’
Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me with your worries and troubles and I will take
care of you. I am gentle and kind and I will help you to find real peace.
The Gospel of the Lord….Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.
Reflection
Is it better to be with clever people or kind and wise ones?
Why?
How do you feel when someone is kind to you?
What can you do to be kind to other people?
What can you share with other people even if you can only
see them online? [Sharing a smile is a kind thing to do ]
Activity:
Can you colour the picture below and share it with other
people that you know?

My name isIf we want to know more about God the Father, Jesus can tell us everything we want to know. If we are sad or tired, Jesus can help us feel better.
Sunday 5 July 2020Matthew 11:25-3014th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Jesus, there are some things that only grown up people know. Thank you for letting us children know all about God, and for not just telling grown-ups. Amen.

Jesus speaks to the children
Jesus says that anyone who has seen him has seen God
the Father. Join the dots so that you can see Jesus. Decode the
