Prayer to St. Andrew

O glorious St. Andrew, you were the first to recognize and follow the Lamb of God. With your friend, St. John, you remained with Jesus for that first day, for your entire life, and now throughout eternity. As you led your brother, St. Peter, to Christ and many others after him, draw us also to Him. Teach us to lead others to Christ solely out of love for Him and dedication in His service. Help us to learn the lesson of the Cross and to carry our daily crosses without complaint so that they may carry us to Jesus. Amen.

NO Walking! We have had a lot of different things going on here at

St. Andrew over the last year including drumming classes and

stretching classes, but I want to make clear that Walking With

Purpose is NOT an exercise program!

What is Walking With Purpose? Walking with Purpose is

a Bible Study that endeavors to meet you where you are on your spiritual journey with a bespoke guide to deep, lasting transformation of the heart and a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It involves:

• Practical Biblical teachings consistent with Church doctrine

that vary in length and depth to meet your needs

• Using the Catechism of the Catholic Church is an additional

resource

• Include three components: an at-home daily study/reflection,

a weekly conversation and study of scripture, and a supportive, communal, small group discussion.

• A Parish!based program that are offered during the daytime

or in the evenings, and childcare is provided

It does NOT include any

walking or physical exercise!

The program was developed by Lisa Breninkmeyer and is based on her book “Walking With Purpose” published in 2013.

For more information on the book, see advertisement below.

All women are welcome, irrespective of faith background, age, or marital status, to join our Walking With Purpose Bible Studies offered this Fall. Want to know more about WWP? Come to our

Meet and Greet Events on Tuesday morning, May 22 or

What To Do When Jesus Is Hungry?

"The works of mercy provide us with

the opportunity to let every person

know he is a child of God and a brother

in Christ. From the works of mercy will emerge a community of

love and peace centered on Christ." —Fr. Andrew Apostoli

As a founding member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal,

Father Apostoli knows firsthand about the challenges and rewards

of caring for those in physical or spiritual need. His order is

dedicated to the Works of Mercy, and Father Apostoli brings to his

subject a great wealth of spiritual and practical wisdom gained

from personal experience.

In this down-to-earth yet inspiring guide, Father Andrew Apostoli,

C.F.R., explains the Corporal Works of Mercy and illustrates

multiple ways we can do them in our modern everyday life. Father

Apostoli also outlines the lesser-known but equally important

Spiritual Works of Mercy and offers many creative ways these too

can be made part of our lives.
