Dear Brother Knights, December 2015

With just days behind us for the celebration of Thanksgiving which was proceeded by the turmoil in Paris and now concerns for Spain, Algeria and Egypt, it gives us the opportunity to reflect on our beliefs and our values.

As we sat down for a very pleasant meal with several of our family and a few close friends we were blessed to have 14 to share in the meal that represented the many things we were thankful for and blessed to have in these times. No matter what each of us may have going on in our lives, it is great to have a day no matter what it might be, we all were just happy to share this meal.

This was the first time I for as long as I can remember that I was not the one to give the blessing at our

meal as one of our guest who is actually the brother of one of our friends who came wished to have this honor at our table. Since I sat at one end of the table and my wife’s uncle (he is the eldest in the room) was offered the seat of honor, I thought this a perfect gesture for the occasion. I did add to the end where I thanked the Lord for allowing us to hold this meal with our new friends and recently relocated family.

As we continue forward with the workings of our Council, the Thanks giving meal and the events around the world have had an effect on me as I am sure it has on many. When we take time to worry about the revenue to cover an event or when we have differences of opinion with other brothers (I am not free of this fault myself) or what have you, I now see it as not very important in the big picture and the plan the Lord has already set for us. We are Knights for reason and not just for a season or event, but for life. We are here because we believe in the values set forth by Father McGivney and we want to follow those values.

So moving forward I will be even more thankful for what my Brother Knights due for the Council and I in-tend to be sure I voice my thanks to those brothers who step up when asked and even when not asked. I will be more attentive to those new brother Knights and be sure I thank them for their attendance and participation and invite them to join in the events and encourage them to take on a leadership role if only in a support position.

To all my officers and chairpersons, thank you very much for all you do for the Council, the Church and for me your grand Knight. I am ever so humbled to have you surround me and assist me in the steering of our Council. Without you all there would not be a Council.

I thank the Worthy Grand Knight for allowing me to speak to our Third Degree Knights to bring them in-

to the Fourth Degree Exemplification on November 28th in Orlando. We had six candidates from St Andrew

Council #7131 including Father Jay for this Degree. I also have applicants that are waiting to make their

4th Degree after the First of the Year.
