KNIGHTS IN ACTION CAPE CORAL CARING CENTER
Brother Marandino and Brother Dave Vieceli delivered 711 pounds of food and the $1,000 check to the Cape Coral Caring Center on Monday, May 18th.
Since April 1st our council has donated 1,067 pounds of food which included: canned tuna/chicken, pasta, pasta sauce, canned pasta, chili, beef stew, canned beans and peanut butter and jelly.
On a normal day the Caring Center would help around 10-13 clients. Since Covid-19 they are helping between 50-70 clients a day with us breaking a record of 79 the other day.
Hats off to our brothers, however much work still needs to be done. I hope we will continue this great endeavor. Also, the $1,000 donation has a buying power of 8x. So, the donation has a realized value of $8,000. A big thank you to all our brothers who supported this effort.

At our next Council meeting we will be voting to approve the charity donation amounts listed below.

Meeting Minutes of May 5, 2020, held on Zoom are as follows:
Grand Knight Jack Martin called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
The meeting began with opening prayers. Pledge of Allegiance followed.
Roll Call of Officers: All officers were present with the exception of Lecturer Fred Corelli, Warden Dave Martinez, Inside Guard Joe Beato and Trustee Rick Hellenbrand, all of whom were excused.
There were no VISITORS.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Recorder Joe Neelon and were approved.
GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT: Grand Knight Jack Martin described the efforts to help the Cape Coral Caring Center by members donating funds through the council; donations at time of meeting total $1225. He also announced that there are plenty of opportunities to attend online exemplifications, either to gain the third degree or to experience the new exemplification. Lastly, he recognized several members who provided aid to the most at-risk members.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Don Huffer emailed his report to the members, which contains details of the Council’s bank balance and allocations.
BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS: Financial Secretary Don Geske read the bills for various council activities. Recorder Joe Neelon read 2 letters of appreciation from the Cape Coral Caring Center.
FINANCIAL SECRETARY’S REPORT: Financial Secretary Don Geske described the incoming and outgoing funds. He also presented the membership status.
REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES: Trustee Jim Mullee reported that the bill was reviewed, and they recommend payment.
REPORTS OF THE COMMITTEES: Program Director Steve McPhillips described the reports being sent to Supreme for this year’s awards. Family Director Mike Buonagurio presented Knight of the Month to Dave Vieceli and Family of the Month to the Skehans.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
• Grand Knight Jack Martin stated that the parish/council relations issue will remain tabled until the parish gets up and running.
• Brother Dennis Richardson renewed his motion to round the Tootsie Roll drive donation for Special Pops to $4000. There was a second and all brothers were in favor.
• Brother Dennis Richardson raised the issue of the George Seton Humanitarian Award. Grand Knight Jack Martin stated that the issue is still being worked.
NEW BUSINESS:
• ELECTIONS: Brother John Paddock of the Nominating Committee presented the slate of officers for the 2020-2021 Fraternal Year.

4th DEGREE REPORT: Brother Jack Marandino announced that the Memorial Day activities at Coral Ridge cemetery are on hold, and that the 4th degree officer elections are on May 26. Brother Irving Carujo confirmed that the Memorial Day raffle has been changed to the July 4 raffle.
There was no INSURANCE AGENT’S REPORT.
DISTRICT DEPUTY’S REPORT: District Deputy Bob Guillery congratulated the council for our performance during trying times. He also announced that exemplifications will be conducted every Thursday evening in the state of Florida through July 2.
There was no CHAPLAIN’S REPORT.
GOOD OF THE ORDER: A number of sick or distressed brothers and relatives were remembered.
Meeting was closed with prayer.
