Through Baptism, we become Children of God and
members of the household of faith. Children should be

belong, that is, the Parish in which they are registered
and active members. Call the rectory to make
arrangements. Parents are reminded that godparents
must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation
and are actively practicing their faith.

Dear Parishioner,
Today we celebrate Catechetical Sunday 2016 with its theme, “Prayer: The Faith Frayed” at the 9 am Mass. We will have a special blessing for catechists as we begin our new year of religious education classes. Today’s second reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to Timothy begins “Beloved: First of all, I ask that supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone,” and concludes with “It is my wish, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or argument.” “When the Lord wants to give us a mission, wants to give us a task, He prepares us. He prepares us to do it well...What is important is the whole journey by which we arrive at the mission the Lord entrusts to us...when the Lord gives a mission, He always has us enter into a process, a process of purification, a process of discernment, a process of obedience, a process of prayer.” – Pope Francis
We thank God for the dedicated men and women who volunteer their time and talents to share our Catholic faith with the young people of our parish. Please say a special prayer for them.
In Christian service, Jackie Alworth
