Why To teach Social StudiesMemory is what makes us who we are. If we lost all of our memory whenever we fell asleep at night, it would be the same as if we died and a new person woke up in our body the next morning. History is the memory of a nation."

Social studies Social Studies may be defined generally as the social sciences-history, geography, sociology, economics, political science, and psychology-when these sciences are functionally organized to facilitate related and meaningful presentation to students.It is the study of various aspects or branches of the study of human society, considered as an educational discipline

Purpose Preparing responsible citizens for the nation, the state, and the local area.Preparing students who have the knowledge and skills in social studies needed for college. Developing awareness and understanding of contemporary social issues.Developing healthy self-concepts. Teaching the methods of social scientists.

Developing healthy self-concepts.Motivating students to want to learn about the social studies.Developing the ability to solve problems and make decisions.Developing "global" citizens with a world vision.

ScopeThe central objective of Social Studies instruction is the promotion of better citizenship. This objective is not achieved without patient study and active, thoughtful participation in a social environment.

GoalsSocial Studies Curriculum of the preparatory course aims to provide an understanding of the development of community life in the context of time, space, economic, and political will to establish social harmony, progress, and have a rational thought in decision-making. This is done through a balanced interaction with the community and the environment to the well-being, national, and world.

General objectives Linking the disciplines of Social Studies of everyday life of individuals and communities.Enhance understanding of the social system through the culture and values to create a multi-ethnic society of national integration.Linking the country with a history of nation building.

Environmental incidents relating to the social and economic development of society.Explain basic economic principles and economic activities associated with social development and nation building.Applying knowledge of environmental education in the life and cultivate a spirit of patriotism.

Course ObjectivesProceed systematically.Survey the course of history & Survey the globe.Do not overlook any of the social sciences.Make the material interesting to students.Make it interesting by using different things .Do not make the course too much heavy

Criteria of Good Methodology It must promote orderliness of instruction like sequences of procedures for the learning process. It must give unity, focus, or centrality. It must facilitate student to achieve understandings, attitudes, appreciations, allegiances, habits and skills.It must facilitate socialized teaching so that students may learn co-operation, group thinking, co-ordination of learnings and the evaluation of achievement.It must be sufficiently flexible or adaptable to permit the use of various techniques to meet the goal
