The “polled thing” has obviously created new excitement in the Fullblood Simmental community. BE CAREFUL!!! The word “homozygous” is the most dangerous adjective a Simmental can have. The opening letter and the footnotes for Lot #1 at the Ferme Gagnon catalog and the subtle hint left by Jason Bruketa in the Lot #43 footnote in the National Trust catalog best describe genetic virtues. In a nutshell, Dany Gagnon authored a mating strategy that advised himself and all of you, to have a strong genetic base before you “go polled”. Then once you are there, cross back with quality again OR do not necessarily breed polled to polled but mate power to polled and vice versa. BE CAREFUL!!!

Evangeline is the fi rst heifer by Porter’s Reserve that we are selling. Reserve has been an amazing bull for us as well as any that have used him. His females are all moderate framed and packing the easy fl eshing trait that he passes on.
