STREET PLAY

ACT ISCENE I

Summer has exploded in the city. The streets are a riot with sun tanners, barbecue pits, boogie borders, digital junkies. But something’s not the same. The towering White Dogwoods seem to be bop, bop, bopping to the strum of a distant Ukulele. In cue, Scru�, the old hound wags his stub of an unfriendly tail at Lecter, the cannibal fish. There, that one! The one glaring from the alley wall. It’s like everything’s come alive to play characters in a very big street play.

In this bizarre setting, Mik and Lara, after a hard night at Papa Knows, the local brewery, are in search of Bran. Who they spot, whoa, hugging the dreaded, Mr. Lecter!

Mik, Lara Bran!!!!!!!!!!!!

MikYou nuts, Bran?!

Bran looks at his friends, waves his hands and screams.

BranMy brothers, you’re finally here!!! SOS! SOS!

Mik stares a long while at his friend, Bran (like he’s lost his mind)

MikBran, look behind you. It’s a wall. Now look at the fish. It’s painted!!!

Mik (continuing, but now really excited)…but it’s crazy and alive! And I’m jumping in with you!

Mik (continuing in mock despair)…We go together bud, together!

And with that, Mik pretends to swim hard into the jaws of the deadly creature.

In the meanwhile, Lara throws in a lifebuoy, begins to pull at it with all sincerity.

Lara (frantically)Hold on, guys…rescue is at hand!
