Violets Are Blue is a natural and organic skincare line born out of a personal need for a thoughtfully simple and safe beauty routine. Violets’ small-batch products do not contain parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or other damaging toxins, providing you with a healthy, pure skincare regimen.
Our philosophy is that keeping skincare basic is best; for this reason, we use the finest essential oils, and other ecologically-sound, and toxin-free ingredients to carefully formulate good-for-you and the environment products.

We operate under the philosophy that skincare does not have to be complicated, in fact, keeping it basic is best.
Violets Are Blue was created out of a personal need for skincare that is sincerely natural, safe for the body and the environment.
In 2011, Violets’ founder, Cynthia Besteman received a shocking breast cancer diagnosis. She believed she had led a healthful life, so she sought out to learn the truth about toxins in our environment. After learning about the way our bodies can manifest problems as a result of our lifestyles and the products we use, Cynthia cleared her household of any possible pollutants and switched over to a
purely organic lifestyle. She was shocked by the mislabeling of skincare and beauty products that were classified “organic” or “natural,” they typically contained parabens, sulfates, and other chemicals known to work as endocrine disruptors linked to cancer and reproductive concerns.
After undergoing treatment, Cynthia took her newfound love of crafting skincare products for herself, family, and friends and established Violets Are Blue in 2013. She fused her knowledge and passion for naturally-derived skincare ingredients to formulate a consciously produced line of products - each one a labor of love. Violets Are Blue operates under the philosophy that skincare does not have to be complicated, in fact, keeping it basic is best.

Facial CleanserA creamy, non-foaming wash that e�ectively cleanses without disturbing the skin’s natural balance making it fitting for all skin types. The carefully considered blend of White Tea, Carrot Seed, and Evening Primrose leaves the face soft, gently cleansed, and silky.

Face & Body LotionThis gentle, easily absorbed lotion, ideal for sensitive skin, is crafted with our special blend of nourishing oils. Coconut, Argan, Avocado, Sesame and Castor with a hint of Lavender give skin full coverage of vitamins A, B1, B2, D, and E leaving a supple, calmed complexion.

DeodorantOur aluminum and alcohol-free, roll-on deodorant is meticulously formulated with six essential oils that assist in neutralizing odor, and with a delicate blend of Lemongrass and Tea Tree it is naturally- perfumed. The medley of oils and extracts doubles as not only a deodorizer but a beneficent skin-smoother.
Salt ScrubA blend of Pure White Salt and several moisturizing base oils work to slough away dry skin and create deep long-lasting hydration. The formula leaves the body softened, polished, and replenished.
Body CreamThis whipped, luscious formula goes on smoothly to combat inflammation, stretch marks, and cracked skin; developed with a rich blend of moisturizing butters like Shea and Kokum, and nourishing oils like Sweet Almond and Argan it revitalizes and restores your skin.
Hand Cut SoapA non-foaming, soothing soap it is the ideal balance of exfoliating and plumping. Calendula, nature’s collagen booster, helps brightens and refines skin, while Oatmeal bu�s and soothes your body. This multitasking formula promotes moisture retention, elasticity, and firmness.

Scar RepairA delicate blend of Helichrysum, a powerful scar lightener, and Calendula, nature’s smoother and brightener, are a dynamic and potent pair; working together they e�ectively fade away or prevent scars, and diminish uneven skin tone.
Smoothing Clay MaskThis age-fighting, powdered blend, that is activated with water upon use, absorbs impurities without upsetting the natural balance of facial skin. It incorporates Powdered Coconut for softness, Rock Rose to combat wrinkles, and White Clay to stimulate circulation. A delicate and potent blend of essential oils leave a revived and silky-smooth healthy glow.

Considerable exploration into packaging options led Violets Are Blue to discover Miron Violet glass. Besides quite the suitable name, research backing the e�ectiveness of this beautiful glass against blocking visible light spectrum rays made it an indisputable choice.
Ancient Egyptians used violet glass, in an alchemical manner, to preserve substances from spoiling and losing their potency. This type of glass only allows for violet, ultraviolet, and infrared light to pass, while blocking the complete visible light spectrum helping maintain the integrity of the bottle’s contents. The visible light spectrum is crucial for growing plants, yet works to
decompose matured plant matter, thereby compromising molecular stability and accelerating cellular decay. This is terrible news for tinctures and blends using essential oils and herbal extracts, their e�cacy downgrades substantially when exposed to sunlight.
Miron Violet glass blocks this spectrum of damaging light, inhibiting the decomposition process. Cynthia BestemanFounder, Violets are Blue
Born in Seattle, Cynthia first landed in New York City determined to to find her way as an actress, after completing a major in theater at the University of Oregon. She worked on Broadway and o� before checking out the real estate scene and quickly becoming one of the top brokers in her o�ce. After receiving a breast cancer diagnosis in 2011, Cynthia’s successful career in the cutthroat world of New York City real estate came to a skidding halt.
While undergoing treatment, one of her first actions was to toss out all beauty products containing unsafe chemicals and synthetic fragrances, leaving her medicine cabinet bare. She dove into the world of natural skincare, learning everything she could about essential oils, and other natural
ingredients that work e�ectively to nourish, cleanse, and hydrate without causing harm. Cynthia learned that there are key botanicals and herbs that can alleviate and treat problems for any skin type or age. In 2013 Violets Are Blue was founded on the principle that a simplified, natural approach to a woman’s beauty routine is best.
In addition to developing new products for the Signature and Beloved lines, Cynthia provides patients at the Mt. Sinai Dubin Breast Center in NYC with a gifted package of Beloved products upon their first day of chemotherapy. She lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with David, her partner of 14 years, and in her spare time plays a mean game of pickleball.
Violets Are Blue was a standout at this year’s Indie Beauty Expo and named a top pick by xoVain beauty blog, as well as featured in the 2015 Holiday Issue of Organic Spa Magazine.

Women undergoing chemotherapy or radiation are, generally, not told that their skin will change dramatically as they begin treatment.
