Dear Parishioners,

SS. Cyril and Methodius Parish is blessed with a long history of faithfilled and generous parishioners who from generation to generation have beendeeply proud of and committed to their Catholic faith. Our vibrant parish hasa rich tradition of worship, service and prayer. St. Cyril’s has become aspiritual home for many seeking to be nourished, able to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Now we have reached an important time in our parish history where weneed to care for the interior of our church building which has over the years become worn and tired. Some necessary improvements also need to be made

for better use of the building.

Much care and maintenance is required in home ownership. Nothing lastsforever and as buildings age they require even more upkeep. The same is trueof our church that is 82 years old. It has been over 20 years since the pewswere refinished and the flooring replaced, and over 30 years since the interior of the church was painted.

I am asking you to make a pledge to our capital campaign entitled, “OurFaith, Our Gift, Our Home.” Consider pledging at least the equivalent of your

annual giving to St. Cyril’s Parish, payable over the next two years. This pledge would be in addition to your regular annual giving which is so vital tothe daily operation of our parish. Everyone’s help is needed to reach our goalof $1 million. Restoration will begin once we have sufficient funds raisedfrom the campaign to complete these projects without incurring any debt. Please review the enclosed material and prayerfully consider your pledge.

I am grateful to the parishioners and friends of St. Cyril’s for all thesupport given to our parish dating back 127 years. The success of our campaign will enable our parish to continue our ministry and enhance our worship and prayer. Working together, we can meet the needs of our parishcommunity both today and for many years to come.

Let us in faith, share our gift, and care for our home.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Larry LisowskiPastor

Our Faith

As you come over the bridge your eyes are drawn to the

church steeples on the horizon of Lemont. One stands out the most.

For over 127 years, SS. Cyril& Methodius has been a beacon

on the hill reaching toward the

heavens but firmly anchored on

holy ground. Our church beckons

all to come through her doors to

pray, worship and give witness to

our Catholic faith. If you could turn back time, you would see that within every decade

of our parish's history, there has never been a period when the

parishioners of this parish were not physically tending to our historic

centerpiece, whether it was rebuilding, reroofing, repainting,

remodeling or repairing.

Through good times and bad, the highs of prosperity, to the very

lows of the Depression, the people of St. Cyril’s responded to its needs.

The true center of all parish life — our Church — is where we gather

for the Eucharist and proudly give our praise to God. Let us begin this

new decade with a renewed dedication to our spiritual Home.

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a

wise man who built his house on rock...it did not collapse; it had been setsolidly on rock.” Matthew 7:24

Our Home

For the past 10 years we

have taken care of many of the

exterior areas of our parish campus.

Our last capital campaign of 2002

raised $2.3 million to help us

reconstruct our front entrance,

complete roof and tuck pointing

repairs, build a new parking lot and

eliminate $680,000 of parish debt.

Now it is time to turn our attention to the interior of our Home.

And You...

You are part of this legacy and can make an impact by pledging to

the Our Faith, Our Gift, Our Home capital campaign.

As good stewards of the gift that was given to us, each and every one

of us are being invited and challenged to take up this responsibility in

whatever way we can.

Everyone’s help is needed to reach our goal of $1 million. This

pledge would be in addition to your regular annual giving which is so

vital to the daily operation of our parish. Please prayerfully consider your

pledge to Our Faith, Our Gift, Our Home.

Not equal gifts but equal sacrifices.

The Restoration Plan — $1,000,000

Listed are several maintenance issues that need to be

addressed in the next two years. These are critical items in need of

repair or renovation:

Additional Washrooms — to accommodate parishioner

attendance of 2,500 on any given weekend

New Reconciliation Room — private, reverent, permanent

sacramental space

Painting of Interior of Church — 30 years since last painted

Permanent Baptismal Font — to celebrate the initiation of our

newest members into our faith community.

Restoration of Pews — refinish, restore or replace

New Flooring — replace 20+ year flooring

Lighting and Sound System — upgrade and improve

The overall design will have the approval of the Office ofDivine Worship to retain our Church’s integrity and historical

beauty. The Archdiocese of Chicago will help us to obtain bids

from approved contractors to give us an understanding of the

financial scope of the project.

Questions about the Campaign

Q: Do we have the money to start this restoration?

A:  No. Our weekly donations cover the immediate needs, small repairs and

the church’s day to day operations. The capital campaign is needed inorder to cover the costs for these projects. Each project will begin oncewe have raised sufficient funds.

Q: When is this restoration planned and will it affect any sacramental

celebrations?

A: 2011 — new washroom and Reconciliation room; 2012 — we plan to

begin painting, restoring the pews and installing new flooring. The church

will be available for Sunday Masses and regular weekly services. Duringthe months of June, July and August of 2012, other accommodations will be made for weddings in our neighboring parishes.

Q: What will happen to the sanctuary area?

A: This campaign will not affect the altar, pulpit or communion rail. No

reconfiguration is currently planned for the sanctuary. More thought and planning is required before any changes are made to the sanctuary space.

Q: What work will be done to the pews?

A: The configuration and present layout of the pews will remain the same.

We will look at the feasibility of refinishing or restoring, or possiblyreplacing the current pews. We will provide seating space to becomeADA compliant.

Q: When the church is painted will it be completely “white washed?”

A: No. The church will be professionally painted. Every effort will be made

to create an overall schematic design that will enhance and preserve itshistorical beauty and character. The design will have the approval of theOffice of Divine Worship for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Q: What will happen to the painted murals, statues and stained glass

windows?

A: The painted murals on the walls will be cleaned and professionally

restored. The statues will remain in church. The stained glass windowswill remain intact and cleaned.
