Conclusions

• Confirmed familiarity with concept of TOD

• So: cognitive learning effects relatively small

• Affective & communicative effects larger

• SprintCity not a tool for agenda-setting

• But for engaging with each other in complex governance situation

• Understanding not only what TOD is, but how various parties have to cooperate to make it happen

• Already over 30 simulation sessions with stakeholders

•Two corridors developed with real-life data: - Leiden – Schiphol - The Hague – Rotterdam

•Two corridors in progress with real data and stakeholders: - Province of Utrecht - City Region Arnhem-Nijmegen

•SprintCity as planning support system

Moving forward

SprintCity development corridor Utrecht – Rhenen (in progress)

• Real ambitions and targets for urban development are incorporated, as well as restrictions

• Relevant economic scenario’s are applied (real estate market)

• Stakeholders participate, discuss TOD with each other and share their ambitions and knowledge

• Some stakeholders are afraid that new insights may hamper existing plans

• Some stakeholders do not want to participate

• Follow-up: unclear what will happen after learning

Moving forward

•Questions?

•Could SprintCity be applied in your city?
