About the Women’s Health & Fitness Summit The brain child of Michelle Wright (Mish), CEO & founder of mishfit franchising Pty Ltd, the Women’s Health and Fitness Summit was first launched in 2014 and since then has enjoyed incredible success and growth. Mish identified a lack of women’s health topics and presenters in the usual conferences on offer. Mish is passionate about safe training and education for women and believes that this will only be fully realised when allied health and fitness professionals work together and all women are educated about their specific needs at different life phases; pregnancy, postnatal and menopausal and post menopausal. The objective of the WHFS is to bring together a wide range of health and fitness modalities to provide a holistic approach to women’s health. The topics offered are not limited to just fitness or health professionals, but also very relevant to all women. Our targeted delegates include Fitness Professionals, Women’s Health Physiotherapists (and other allied health professionals) and the general public. We believe that our unique styled event takes every opportunity for everyone gathered to interact and create meaningful relationships that will benefit our clients, our respective industries and ourselves.

Feedback from the WHFS in 2014 identified that delegates enjoyed the special touches and attention to detail that this event offered. Delegates saw this event as needed, and that there was nothing else on offer that catered specifically to women’s health and fitness. We saw that there was an opportunity to place this event in a beautiful setting that showcased not only the event, but also the city of Melbourne itself. In 2015, the WHFS was expanded to 1.5 days and held at the beautiful Crown Promenade and this increased our attendance by 25%. We also expanded the range of topics, offering 2 educational strands and featured some of the leading presenters in their fields from across UK and Australia. Our audience was no less spectacular, were drawn from all over Australia and New Zealand. Many were leaders in their own fields related to women’s health, pledged both their online and physical support to this event. When asked why, they replied simply “because this event needs to exist.”

In 2015 a trade show (organised by Wishful Events) was introduced and we offered more sponsorship opportunities. These both sold out. In our review of WHFS15 92% of responders stated that they rated this event as either Excellent or Very Good. And response when asked why they rated this event so highly: I loved atmosphere of collaboration and support between different professions A good mix of fit pros & health pros sharing their knowledge Everything started and finished on time. Excellent presenters!! Good range of topics to select from.

The general camaraderie and how the presenters also participated The uniqueness of the summit. The openness and frank discussion of all things women's health Relevant information and great timing and running to schedule

... what more can I say? ... the WHFS is my place ... I felt so comfortable and yet so inspired and excited . I can't imagine not being there for WHFS 2016.

Congratulations, it was such an amazing event that I will put in my annual calendar!

I thought it was wonderful, and will definitely return if there are future events

Being new to the fitness Industry this event was very enjoyable and I'm glad I made the effort to get there. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet and be inspired by other women.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for organising a wonderful summit. I took home a lot of new ideas. I loved the string bracelets from the closing ceremony. It were a simple gesture but each time I have looked at my bracelet this week I have reminded myself that I have to keep trying every day to be a better fitness professional :)

Thank you. You did a great job. It was fantastic to have such experienced, knowledgeable women sharing so generously. I am inspired to continue to learn more, and to bring all that I have learned into my practice with clients. Thank you, and well done!

Where to from here? The feedback from delegates was clear… they want more! And they want food included! So this year we are pleased to announce that we have shifted the event to the beautiful RACV building – located at 501 Bourke St, Melbourne. This fits with our belief that this event needs to be housed at a beautiful venue, that shows off Melbourne. We will continue to source presenters who are not only highly qualified to present, but are dynamic in their delivery. We will expand our sponsorship opportunities, as we know that our delegates are highly interested in products and services around women’s health. Our trade show will not only expand, but will be placed in the main room on the 17th Floor. We want our sponsors and trade show people to feel more included and enjoy the WHFS first hand. We want our delegates to have more opportunity to interact with trade and sponsors.

Building on last year’s success, we are again offering The Platform opportunity. (This session is again, proudly sponsored by Australian Fitness Network) The Platform is an opportunity for new presenters to get a leg up into the speaking circuit. CEO Mish believes that the only way we can bring more attention to Women’s health is to create a new wave of inspiring presenters. “In the age of the TED talk, it is simply not acceptable to read from a Power Point. An audience wants to be entertained. They want to be inspired. If we want women’s health on the agenda, then our presentations have to be at the highest level to get the speaking opportunities and to ultimately deliver our key messages”, she says. The Platform is an opportunity for 4 new presenters to be mentored by one of the industry greats, Marietta Mehanni. They also receive a professionally filmed copy of heir presentation and feedback on how to write applications, thus allowing them to apply for other professional speaking gigs. Their 20-minute presentation has to be polished to the point of no notes, and are not allowed to stand behind a lectern.

In 2015, The Platform delivered 4 inspiring presentations. The audience was impressed and now each of the presenters have been invited back to present a full session at this year’s WHFS. The Platform drives enormous traffic to our event, as it is completely unique in every formal conference. You welcome to watch the WHFS15 The Platform presenters on the Women’s Health and Fitness Summit YouTube channel.
