Spoken Arabic - Al Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik Part 1

Who can join?

This course is aimed at students who wish to learn how to communicate in basic Arabic. Being able to converse and speak in Arabic is one of the reasons students chose to learn the language. The course will complete the rst 8 chapters of Al-Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik, a book that is popularly used in the Arab world to teach non-native speakers. The course will allow a student to introduce themselves, their family and other topics from everyday life.

What does the course entail?

Course Duration: 12 weeks (2.5 hours per week)

Course Material: The course will be taught from Al-Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik. You are welcome to bring your own copy of the book if you have one otherwise we can provide you wih one at the cost of £20. You will be provided with a course pack consisting of some extra worksheets. You are expected to bring a notepad and pen to take notes.

Homework: It is recommended that 2 hours of homework are completed for every 3 hours of class each week. This is due to the fact that every week you will be learning extensive vocabulary.

Examination: The tutor will arrange a suitable mock exam after week 8 in accordance with the progression of the class. A nal examination will take place in week 12 of the course. The pass mark is 50%.

Certi cates: At the end of the course you will receive a certi cate from the Islamic Guidance Centre recognising your achieve -ment.

Progression: As you will have completed Spoken Arabic Part 1, you can progess onto the second part of the course.
