spinitsystems® is the innovation from Mayer & Cie. that combines the spinning and the knitting process. Knitwear is manufactured not from yarn but straight from the fibre roving. The three process steps spinning, cleaning and knitting are combined in one machine. The rewinding process that was previously required has been eliminated. The single jersey knit-wear production process can thus be shortened significantly!

Shortening the process means that fewer machines are needed and capital expenditure is reduced. Significant space and energy savings become possible, yarn storage can be reduced and less waste is produced. Production costs overall can be reduced considerably and the reduction in CO2 emissions makes a valuable contribution towards sustainability.

Furthermore, with spinitsystems® entirely new types of unplated knitwear qualities can be manufactured. The unique quality, the so-called Spinit Look & Feel, is a result of the false-twist spinning process in which the fibre roving is processed directly into knitwear. The fibres are knitted directly into loops gently and without twisting. High-quality single jersey knitwear is produced with totally new properties: fabulously soft, fluffy and even, with a luxurious sheen and without spirality after washing.

Incidentally, spinitsystems® can do much more: with the optional Fancy Module pattern effects are possible that do not yet exist – for you to make the difference!

spinitsystems® – spinning, cleaning and knitting with one machine

The operating principleStart: The process starts with fibre roving* from the spinning mill, so-called flyer roving. It is wound onto bobbins and fixed with bobbin holders in the top creel of the machine. It is then taken to the drafting system. With spinitsystems® conventional roving of the kind known in spinning mills can be processed, and in many cases no special adjustment is required. *Roving does not come within the scope of delivery

Spinning: The roving is drawn to a fine fibre bundle in the drafting system. The modular, electronically controlled 3-over-3 roller drafting system was derived from proven drafting concepts known from short-staple spinning. The components used in the drafting system are well-known in current spinning practice.A twin-jet false-twist spinning unit is connected directly to the drafting system and transports the drawn fibre bundle to the knitting unit. When the fibre bundle exits the yarn guide the false twist disintegrates and a fibre composite without a twist is delivered to the needles.

Cleaning: Prior to the knitting process the roving is automatically cleared of irregularities such as thick or thin places. These irregularities are identified by the roving sensor in a 100% online process and reported to the machine control. In an automated process irregularities are eliminated and flawless knitting is then resumed. Cleaning takes place while the machine is running so that the machine’s productivity is decreased only marginally.

Knitting: After exiting the yarn guide attached to the spinning unit the drawn fibre composite reaches the knitting unit’s needle area. There it is knitted and knitwear takes shape. The knitting unit is a conventional single jersey circular knitting machine fitted out with Mayer & Cie.’s tried and trusted Relative Technology, which ensures an especially gentle loop formation process.

Almost done! The raw knitwear now needs only to be wound up. This is carried out by the trusted Mayer & Cie. trapezoidal spreader. It winds up the knitwear and does so both powerfully and gently. In the next step the Spinit-wear can then be moved on to the downstream finishing and refinement process.

In the high-quality sector the Spinit Look & Feel makes unique single jersey qualities that are ideal for quality applications: fabulously soft t-shirts, fluffy baby linen and high-quality nightwear with a luxurious sheen. These can all be made of both pure raw materials and quality blends!

In the cost-oriented sector the Spinit 3.0 E’s 3-in-1 Concept delivers the goods at an incredibly low cost. High-volume articles that until now could hardly be manufactured at a profit now become interesting once more. It is worthwhile costing them again!

In the fashion sector totally new pattern possibilities make the difference. With the optional Fancy Module pattern effects are possible that did not previously exist and can be put to use in fashion collections as a decisive differentiation potential!

Along with natural fibres like cotton, synthetic fibres from the short staple area such as viscose, modal or polyester can also be used. The raw materials can be processed pure, such as 100 % cotton combed

With the Spinit 3.0 E a wide range of fabric weights can be manu-factured. Weights from 80 g / m2 to 200 g / m2 are possible. Some of which can even be made from the same roving count. That makes elaborate and expensive yarn storage superfluous, which cuts costs and is helpful for just-in-time production too.

or carded. In addition, blends can be processed in all standard blend ratios. A synthetic auxiliary yarn is not required.

Spinit 3.0 E is a compact machine with the same dimensions as a conventional circular knitting machine. The machine’s technology was derived from state-of-the-art technology in spinning mills and knitting factories. The machine’s concept is convincing with its maximum level of operating reliability and productivity.

Like all Mayer & Cie. machines, it is easy to use and easy to keep clean.
