INTRODUCTION

Accentuation is learned by studying the stress in words .

There are words that have a natural stress and do not

require a written accent . In some words, a written

accent is used to show that the stressed syllable is not

the syllable where the stress would naturally be .

In this workbook, in pages covering Rules 1 and 2, there

are exercises with words that have a natural stress and do not

require a written accent . In pages covering Rules 3, 4 and 5,

there are exercises with words that require a written accent .

La acentuación se aprende estudiando el acento de las

palabras. Hay palabras que tienen un acento natural y

no requieren acento escrito. Cuando el acento natural es

quitado de la sílaba que lo contiene, la nueva sílaba con

el sonido más alto y fuerte requiere acento escrito.

En este cuaderno de ejercicios, en las páginas que

cubren las reglas 1 y 2, hay ejercicios de palabras que

tienen el acento natural y no requieren acento escrito. En

Introduction Accentuation



The stress can be found in the word’s syllable that has the most emphasis in the pronunciation . The written accent is the sign that is used, in specific cases, to indicate the stress in writing .

El acento (el sonido más alto y fuerte) se encuentra en la sílaba de la palabra que, en la pronunciación, tiene el mayor relieve o énfasis. El acento escrito es el signo que se utiliza para indicar, en específicos casos, la sílaba acentuada por escrito.

Examples:

casa ca - sa libertad li - ber - tadinglés in - glés
