DEADLINES
The deadline to register to vote is 25 daysbefore the day of the
election.
Forms received by the county board of elections office or post
marked by the deadlineare accepted as valid applications for
theupcoming election.
If there is any incomplete information, you willbe notified and
a new application will be sent.You will need to complete the new
request andreturn it within 30 days.
Applicants will receive a voters card stating their polling
place and assigned voting district.

WAYS TO VOTE IN NORTH CAROLINA In Person, on Election Day Vote
at your assigned polling place. You will be asked to sign the poll
book before you vote. The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30
p.m. If you are in line by 7:30 p.m. you will still be able to
vote.
In Person, Early Voting For 2 weeks before the election you can
vote at a site in your county where you can request and cast a
one-stop absentee ballot. Every county has at least one site for
one-stop absentee voting, some have sites open beyond normal
business hours. You do not need an excuse for voting early. To find
out where and when one-stop voting is available, contact your
county board of elections.

Curbside VotingNorth Carolina law permits voterswho are
physically unable to enter the polling place, to vote fromtheir

Voters who cast their ballot using the curbside voting process
must be registered to vote like any other voter and cast the same
ballot as all other voters.
Curbside voters are also required to sign a statement that they
are eligible to vote curbside.

ABSENTEE MAIL-IN BALLOT
By Mail-in Absentee BallotYou can request an absentee ballot no

A Near RelativeA written request may be signed by you or a near
relative(a near relative is a spouse, brother, sister, child,
parent, grandparent, grandchild, stepparent, stepchild, or
mother-,father-, daughter- or son-in-law).
All requests for absentee ballots should be mailed or hand
delivered to the appropriate county board of elections office. They
may also be emailed or faxed.
A request for an absentee ballot in thegeneral election should
include:your name, date of birth, residence address, address the
absentee ballot should be mailed to, and, if appropriate, the near
relatives contact Information and relation to you.
The absentee ballot will be mailed directlyto the voter.
The county board of elections must receive it back by 5 p.m. on

The following are categories under which voters may have to cast
a provisional ballot:
1. Unreported-moves voters (who have moved more than 30 days
before the election but failed to report the change of address)
2. No record provisional voters (who claim to have registered
but for whom there is no record as registering in the county)
3. Previously removed voters (who were removed as part of a list
maintenace, but claim continuous residence and the right to
vote)
4. Jurisdictional dispute voters (who appear as registered, but
whose assignment to a voting district is questioned- either by the
voter or the registration record)
5. Incorrect precinct provisional voters (who appear as
registered in another precinct within the county, but state a
desire to vote in the incorrect precinct in which the voter
appears)
6. Special provisional voters (who appear after 7:30 p.m.
closing and vote by virtue of a lawful order)
7. Voters that did not produce required identification (who are
on the poll books with a note that they must show ID)
