Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It has been a busy two week as Relieving Principal learning all the new

systems and routines. I want to thank everyone on their support and help.

Especially, Leanne Dries School Administration Manager who I have been

asking a hundred and one questions.

Media Teach NSW

Last term the NSW Media Teach visited our school

to promote Special Education and to take photos of

the innovative programs at Clarke Road. On

Monday the 13th they will be back again, this time

to interview Assistant Principal Rebecca Saunders

about her journey into special education. Rebecca’s

story will be used to promote teacher career in

NSW Special Education.

Clarke Road School’s therapy dog Minty will also be featured in promoting

Special Schools. Students with media permission will feature with Minty, e.g.

P.B.E.L. NEWS

Being caring focuses on looking after our belongings and keep our

area clean. Excursions in the community are a great way to practice caring for our environment by making sure we pack away our

belongings and put all our rubbish in the bin before we leave an area.

The Farm Yard and Shed

Rotary have been busy with the farm yard, vegetable garden area,

garden potting area and deck. David from Rotary says, “There is still

plans for more work around the chook shed, painting the deck, complete

the mesh fence and general tidy up” to get it all ready.

Henny Penny Hatching

Students are eagerly waiting for the arrival of our chicken eggs. Scot Noble

Buru teacher has organised Henny Penny hatching to coincide with the

Senior Science Life Cycles investigation.

The aim is to provide a thrilling educational experience for all, bringing the

joy of watching eggs hatching, and chicks emerging from their shells.

Students can watch with excitement and awe as chicks begin hatching in

the library. Four of the chickens will be selected to stay at Clarke Road

School and join the hen house. A competition for naming the chickens will

be run between the classes.

Parent Teacher Review Meetings

This week you would have received Parent Teacher Review Meeting times. Teachers are available to meet

with you and therapists to discuss your child’s goals. Please make appointments through the office.

Class days for interviews are Gibba class Tuesday 21st, Buru class Wednesday 22nd Aug, Kurrajong class

Thursday 23rd Aug, Bembul Class Friday 24th Aug, Garraway class Monday 27th Aug, Yarra Class

Tuesday 28th Aug, Warrigul class Monday 3rd of Sept, Colo class Tuesday 4th Sept., Bunya Class

Wednesday 5th of Sept. Magura Class Thursday 6th Sept.

Before any meeting it is a good idea to review your child’s Personalised Learning and Support Plans and to

prepare questions about your child’s learning.

If times are not suitable please advise Leanne when you ring and attempts will be made to arrange for a

teleconference or to make an alternate plan.

Bush Dance

The Bush Dance for Education Week was a great success, music, dance and boot

tapping is always a time to have fun. A big thank you to Alex and his band, and

the Barker College students. It was great to see all the parents, grandparents,

brothers and sisters who came and enjoyed the day with us.

Comedy for a Cause

Don’t forget to purchase your ticket to the Comedy for a Cause night. Last time

it was so much fun. Everyone had such a good evening and couldn’t stop smiling

and laughing.

Drought in NSW Farming Community.

At our last staff meeting the plight of the farmers was raised and the drought appeal campaign. Any

donations sent to Clarke Road School for the farmers will be sent to registered charities to help those who

have no feed left for their animals.
