APRIL Healthy Kids Day all ages: Pick up healthy habits at our FREE Healthy Kids Day! It’s celebrated at nearly 1,300 Ys across the country with the aim to get more kids moving and learning. Join us for a great day of youth and family fun with relay races, inflatables, Kids ZUMBA & more on April 27 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. All are welcome! McCleskey Y

MAY Crafts N’ Creations all ages: Join us for a fun family evening of crafts, art and creative projects. This will be a great opportunity to get crazy and creative with your family. There will be a wide variety of projects to choose from, and snacks to feed your creative side! May 10 at McCleskey Y

SEPTEMBER Magic Night all ages: Magic is fun for all ages! Come watch a magic show with your family. Enjoy an evening full of laughs and crafts. September 13 at Northeast Y OCTOBER Spooktacular ages 12 and under: Dress in your spookiest costume and join us for lots of fun on October 25! We will have carnival games, crafts and a costume parade. Parents are free & must accompany children. McCleskey Y Haunted Hustle 5K/10K: Be a part of the YMCA’s 5K/10K to support the School’s Out Lunch Program. See Front Desk for more information.

NOVEMBER 11th Annual Chili Cook-off: FREE! Join us for a good-ole fashioned Chili Cook-off on November 13 at 11:30 am! Top three finishers will be recognized. Not a cook?! Then come sample all of the chili you can eat for a $5 donation to WHY IT MATTERS. McCleskey Y DECEMBER Cookies with Santa: All ages are invited to join us for a fun-filled afternoon of holiday activities on December 8. Come talk to Santa and enjoy holiday treats, cocoa and tea. SENIORS 55+ At the Y, you'll find a sense of community, fellowship and support that enriches lives. Our older adults can take advantage of exercise programs designed with seniors in mind. We also benefit from social events ranging from monthly educational workshops, Bingo and group outings to Pickleball, special events and community service opportunities. YMCA Kickers ladies ages 60+: We are always recruiting more ladies to join this unique dance troupe. Interested in joining? Call 770-977-5991. Road Trips ages 55+: Our monthly trips take us on the road to visit points of interest all over Georgia. Our Round-A-Bouts are mini-trips to local museums, gardens, diners, dives and other hidden treasures around town. Registration fees for both include transportation, tickets/fees and lunch. Check our Senior Calendar in our lobby for more details. Special Events ages 55+: We host special events for our Seniors throughout the year such as our Annual Veteran’s Celebration, and Holiday Parties. Volunteer opportunities available! Senior Workshops ages 55+: Healthy Brain Game Day is fun and fellowship at its best! We all know brain health is so important, so at the Y we exercise our brains the fun way with ever-changing trivia, brain games, challenging puzzles, and a healthy lunch. Lunch workshops are a great way to stay "in the know" for senior health & wellness. Great presentations, and lunch, too!

NETWORKING Business Network Group: Bring business cards and tell us about your company in 1-minute or less. Every other Friday morning in the Teen Center. Free to Y members. Guests are welcome. Questions? Email [email protected]. Northeast Y COMMUNITY OUTREACH The Y is, and always will be committed to nuturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and giving back to our neighbors. Both McCleskey & Northeast Y’s are collection sites for donations that benefit our community. This year we have many opportunities for you to serve your community. Flyers and information will be posted at each branch with donation bins.

PLAYCENTER ages 3 months-12 Our PlayCenters offer playful and engaging options for your children while you exercise or connect with others over shared interests. Your peace of mind and the happiness of your child are the priorities of our long time and experienced staff. They will help your child grow socially through games, informal play, sharing and taking turns. Children are provided with positive social experiences in a secure, playful environment while in our care. Our Playcenters are a free drop-off service for facility members only. There is a 2-hour maximum per child per day, up to 8 hours per week. Older kids, ages 5-12, will be on the move, in our PlayCenters! As an extension of our Child Watch program, kids will move around our facility to play games on the basketball court/arena, racquetball court, and in our activity room areas for arts and crafts. Our goal is to keep kids active and moving all the while having a great time playing games with their friends at the Y. * Children ages 3 months to 5 years only during Cobb County School days; older kid areas are not open during morning hours when school is in session. Hours of availability are subject to change on holidays and special events. The PlayCenter is operating as an exemption program based on Bright From the Start standards.

PARENT BREAKS Parent’s Morning Out ages 2 years-PK5: We provide a nurturing place for your child to play, learn and grow. Our program emphasizes a hands-on learning curriculum, motor skill development and creativity. This program provides an environment for children to learn, gain self-confidence, and make new friends. Activities include circle time, reading, arts & crafts, and basic early learning skills, such as shapes, colors, abc’s, counting and enhanced socialization skills. Pack a snack/lunch for your child each day (no peanut products). Parent’s Night Out ages 2-12: You can feel confident knowing your children are happy and healthy, enjoying a variety of fun activities with their Y friends while you enjoy a much needed night out. Healthy snacks provided. Registration opens Friday at 12:00 pm, two weeks before each PNO. This is a popular event so make sure to register early. BIRTHDAY PARTIES Y Birthday Parties ages 2-10: Do you want a spacious party area? Are you struggling to find some fun activities the kids will enjoy? Let the Y host your child’s birthday party! SCHOOL BREAK CAMP

Dynamite Days Off Camps ages K5-12: During Cobb County school holiday breaks our qualified counselors will lead activities that will help build your child’s self-confidence, strengthen their social skills, deepen their respect for others and build lasting relationships. Activities may include swimming, crafts, sports and group games. Pack a lunch, drink, two snacks, swim suit and towel. McCleskey Y

TEENS

Teen Center: Our Teen Center is designed to help you make the most of the time you are not in school. Whether you love sports, art, want to get in shape for the upcoming sports season, or just want to hang out and get your homework done with your friends, the Teen Center is the place to be! Kids & Families

Teen Leadership Board ages 13-17: Youth Leadership Board (TLB) is a great way to stay connected to the Y and be part of the Y's future. The Board is comprised of 10-12 students who meet to help make decisions about programs, events, recruiting, fundraising and community impact. Y Jr. Leaders/Teen Leaders Club 6th-12th Graders: Developing Leaders: Leaders Club is a leadership development youth group. Jr Leaders Club is for 6th-8th graders and Leaders Club will consist of 9th-12th graders. They each will meet once a week, volunteer in theircommunity and go on fun trips. Jr Leaders & Leaders is a group of teens who want to make a difference in their community. Each teen has to apply and present a reference letter. They strive to grow in their leadership, volunteerism, in fitness and as people. We also offer a variety of trips throughout the year and fall & spring lock-ins. Applications are available at the Front Desk. Contact Rachel Singer for more information. Middle School Madness 6th-8h Graders: Enjoy music, games, basketball, arts & crafts, cooking, prizes, video games, dodgeball and much more. Pizza and drinks will be sold in the concessions area. Invite friends! McCleskey Y High School Nights 9th-12th Graders: Spend your Saturday night at the Y....Open late just for 9th to 12th graders! Come workout with your friends, challenge someone to a game of racquetball, play pickup basketball on our courts or hang out while watching college football in the teen center. Access to the arena will be open to play a variety of sports. Bring your friends and enjoy this evening of fun at the Y after hours! Pizza and snacks will be sold. Northeast Y

PRESCHOOL CAMP

Preschool Mini Camps ages 3-PK5: These morning camps are designed specifically for our youngest campers and provides children with both a safe and positive developmental experience throughout the summer by engaging them in a wide range of fun activities. Each week will center on a different theme. Northeast Y

TRADITIONAL CAMP

Traditional Day Camp ages 5-11: These full-day camps feature weekly themes, promote personal growth and encourage campers to have fun with their friends. Our qualified, trained counselors will lead activities that will help build your campers’s self confidence, develop their social skills, teach them teamwork, deepen their respect for others and build lasting friendships. McCleskey Y Camp High Harbour on Lake Allatoona ages 9-12: Campers will be bused from the McCleskey Y to YMCA Camp High Harbour, located on beautiful Lake Allatoona. Campers will learn new camp activities and skills that are valuable for life while having fun! Camper options include: swimming, arts & crafts, nature study, ropes course, campfires, songs & skits, climbing tower, archery, field games, boat rides, hiking, team sports, bush cooking and much more!

Sports Camps for ages 6-12: Campers will learn and sharpen their skills in these sport-specific camps. Fundamentals, rules and technique will be emphasized throughout the week along with implementing those skills in a fun, relaxed, game-like environment. McCleskey & Northeast Y

Teen Development Camps ages 12-17: We offer Navigators Camp for ages 12 & 13 as the first step in our leadership development continuum. Next, is our Leaders In Training for ages 14 & 15 who apply and then are selected into the program to gain positive workplace experience. Our older teens, ages 16 & 17, can apply for the Counselor In Training Program. McCleskey Y

We teach youth, teens and adults to swim, so they can stay safe around water and learn the skills they need to make swimming a lifelong pursuit for staying healthy. Y Swim Lessons provide important life skills that could save a life and will benefit participants for a lifetime.

STAGES OF LEARNING Swim Starters ages 6 months-3 years: Lessons for infants and toddlers with a parent. Not designated to teach infants & toddlers to swim, but rather to learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim-readiness skills. Swim Basics ages 3 & up: Participants learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competencies, such as swim, roll, float, jump, push and turn. Swim Strokes ages 3 & up: Having mastered the fundamentals, participants learn additional water safety skills and build stroke technique.

INSTRUCTORS Our YMCA swim instructors are nationally certified and having training in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration. To ensure participants have a trained instructor at every level and ability to help them progress through the stages, the following ratios are applied to our swim lessons classes. 1:12 for Infant-Toddler + Parent Classes 1:4-5 for Preschool Classes 1:6-8 for School-Age, Teen & Adult Classes

REGISTRATION Register for the days & times that work best with your schedule within the correct age group below. Skill tests will be administerd during the first class to determine Stage of Learning. Participants are placed according to current skill level in order to advance quickly through the stages. • Infant/Toddler + Parent ages 6 - 36 months • Preschool ages 3-5 years • School-Age ages 6-12 years • Teen & Adult ages 13+

Swim Lessons

Is Your Child Ready for Swim Lessons? We have a few key questions to help you determine if your child is ready for swim lessons.

• Can your child separate from you? • Can your child listen well and take turns • Can your child obey simple instructions? • Does your child enjoy the water? • Has your child expressed interest in learning to swim?

Lightning Policy: We close all pools, whirlpools, saunas, steamrooms, and pool decks for 30 minutes following lightning or thunder. Make-Up Policy: In the event that your child misses a lesson, there will be NO credits or refunds given.

Refund Policy: Refund requests must be made in writing at least 72 hours before session starts.

Camp Swim Lessons ages 5-12: Offered as a Camp Add-On, this program allows campers to attend swim lesson with certified instructors. Our well-trained aquatics staff will work on a wide range of skills such as floating, kicking, breathing and even strokes, while helping them to conquer their fears and grow their confidence. Campers will have five 40-minute lessons. Swimmers need to be registered for Summer Camp. Once registered for camp you will get an email with instructions on how to register for Camp Swim Lessons.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING Jr. Lifeguard Training ages 11-15: The Junior Lifeguarding program is designed to give participants the foundation of knowledge and skills to be future lifeguards. Participants will learn lifesaving rescue techniques, be able to shadow lifeguards, learn about volunteer opportunities as a Junior Lifeguard at the Y and have fun! Course will include both in water and classroom sessions. Lifeguard Training ages 16+: Become a certified lifeguard. Successful participants of this course will be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen Administration, and Pool Lifeguarding. Participants must attend all classes, be able to swim and pass pre-requisite swim requirements, and be 16 by the end of the class. The Lifeguard Program is a scenario based training developed to ensure that lifeguards we certify are the best in the business.

PRIVATE LESSONS Private/Semi-Private Lessons: Cost includes 3-hour block of time (your choice of six 30-minute or four 45-minute lessons). 1-on-1 instruction, for a wide range of swimming abilities. Please stop by the Welcome Center to fill out a private lesson request and an instructor will contact you within 2 weeks. Payment required at registration. Must be used within 6 months of purchase. Adaptive Aquatics: One-on-one instructor is available for special needs members. Documentation of diagnosis must be included with the application. Please stop by the Welcome Center to fill out a private lesson request and an instructor will contact you within 2 weeks. Payment required at registration. Must be used within 6 months of purchase. SPECIALTY SWIM

Swim Tot 2-year-olds: A water adjustment class designed especially for 2-year-olds. Tots will play games, sing songs and work on being comfortable in the water. We will prepare swimmers for the YMCA progressive swim program which starts at 3 years old. Swim tots should be able to independently enter the water without a parent to be successful in this class. Stroke Clinic ages 6-13: The class refines all four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle). The students will begin to have more structure training sessions that will prepare them for the swim team. By the end of this level students are able to swim 50 meters continuously with a variety of strokes.

SWIM TEAM Manta Rays Swim Team ages 5-18: This program is an introduction to competitive swimming in an “everybody swims, everybody wins” atmosphere. Coaches work on all four strokes and techniques. This team focuses on fun, building self-esteem, and prepares children to compete at the next level. Cost includes Manta Rays swim cap, Official team t-shirt, and end of season banquet. All new swimmers must tryout. SUMMER SWIM TEAM A great way to introduce swimmers to a swim team environment. The team will have evening practices at the Y, swims in the North Georgia Swim League and will swim against Y and Non Y teams. Meets are in June on Thursdays. Swimmers have the option to swim in the District meet, which qualifies for the Summer State Meet. May & June FALL/WINTER SWIM TEAM This 6-month swim season is for swimmers who have a good understanding of the fundamentals of swimming. The team practices at the Y and competes against other Y’s in Saturday meets. Swimmers have the option to participate in the Y League Championship meet the first weekend in March. September – February ages 8 & under Required skills: Be able to swim at least one length of the pool freestyle and backstroke without stopping. Kids build confidence and refine all four competitive strokes through drills and games, and learn lifelong skills like team work and good sportsmanship both while practicing and when competing in swim meets. This group is great for kids who have been enrolled in swim lessons.

ages 9 & 10 Required Skills: Be able to swim freestyle and back-stroke 100 yards without stopping and breaststroke and butterfly 25 yrds; able to perform and regularly use skills such as flip turns, streamlining, and circle swimming. Kids build confidence through learning about goalsetting, and then working towards daily, personal and team goals. ages 11 & up Required skills: Be able to swim all 4 competitive strokes for at least 100 yards without stopping. Swimmers will continue to development strokes and endurance.

Your membership includes our signature Coach Approach Program. If you need guidance in your wellness journey, our staff will help you set goals, make a plan and discover activities you enjoy. Your wellness coach will help you become familiar with everything the Y has to offer you and your family. Weight Loss for Life free for members ages 18+: Weight Loss for Life is the next level to our signature THE COACH APPROACH program, which has improved physical activity, self-confidence and the emotional wellbeing of thousands of Y members around the country. FITNESS EQUIPMENT Equipment Orientation free for members ages 13+: Wellness Coaches are available to answer your fitness questions, provide instruction on weight equipment and designate effective exercise routines. Schedule appointments at the Welcome Center. Family Fitness ages 9 & up: Develop a fitness routine and exercise side-by-side with your child in the Wellness Center. Build healthy habits together to last a lifetime! Families may use the Wellness Center together during all Y hours of operation. CPR

CPR/AED For The Community and Workplace ages 13+: This class will cover adult, infant and child CPR/AED. We will cover conscious and unconscious choking victims, breathing barriers, and protective equipment. Students will learn how to assess situations and make appropriate decisions for victim care. GROUP EXERCISE Group Exercise Classes for facility members 13 & older: We offer a variety of group exercise classes including strength, choreographed cardio, group cycling, and mind and body. Check out our Group Ex Schedule for class days and times. Youth ages 9-12 may participate in group classes only if accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 years of age or older and who is a member. If a participant’s safety is compromised, Y Certified Group Exercise Instructors reserve the right to redirect a member to a more appropriate class. For more info, email Emilie Barry. Water Group Exercise Classes: Water exercise classes provide significant cardiovascular and strength-training benefits while reducing the burden on stress-bearing joints and muscles. ADVANCED TRAINING One-on-One Personal Training for members ages 13+: Certified Y trainers will design an individual fitness plan geared to your specific needs. Maximize your results and reach your goals. By appointment only. McCleskey & Northeast Ys Run Club ages 18+: Join and let us help you reach your goal! Run Club is a community of runners within the East Cobb Ys. We promote running in a fun and supportive environment. The club meets on Saturdays for a group run ranging from 2-10 miles, depending on fitness level. Whether you are training for your first 5K or are a seasoned runner, we can help you develop a training plan that is right for you. Northeast Y Kids Triathlon Training ages 6-15: This FREE training program is open to kids who are registered for the Atlanta Kids Triathlon in August. Good Measure Meals (GMM): We partner with Good Measure Meals, an organization that makes it easy to eat healthy and enjoy gourmet food everyday, even with a busy schedule. Place your order at goodmeasuremeals.com and pick up at either one of our Ys. All proceeds from your purchase support Open Hand community programs to provide meals free-of-charge to homebound seniors and individuals battling chronic or critical illness. GMM offers free workshops throughout the year for our members. Be on the lookout for dates and times, you won’t want to miss these nutritional opportunities. Wellness Lunch & Learns: Have you ever wondered why you have to exercise or why you can’t eat anything you want to eat? Almost everyone has asked those questions so we’re bringing in some experts. Once a quarter the Wellness Department will host a Lunch & Learn. We will start in February. Look for a signup sheet as you won’t want to miss what we have in store for you! SPECIALTY PROGRAMS

YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program ages 18+: If you have been diagnosed with prediabetes, or believe you may be at risk for developing the disease, the Y’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you develop a healthier lifestyle and work with you to reduce the risks this condition can pose on your health. Led by a trained Lifestyle Coach in a classroom setting, the program is delivered over a 12-month period, beginning with 16 weekly sessions followed by monthly maintenance. In order to qualify, participants must be 18+, overweight (BMI>25) and a high risk for developing type 2 diabetes or have been diagnosed with prediabetes. For more info, email [email protected]. McCleskey & Northeast Ys PD Gladiators: Did you know that aggressive exercise is one the of best things someone with Parkinson’s disease can do for themselves? This is why our metro Ys and PD Gladiators have partnered to offer special group exercise classes for Parkinson’s disease patients and caregivers. This program is open to anyone with Parkinson’s disease. Let’s get aggressive and fight this disease together! See group exercise schedule for days and times. PRESCHOOL SPORTS Beginner Sports ages 3-6: Introduce your child to sports! The focus is on basic skill development, teamwork and having fun. In these programs kids have a team practice for 15 minutes, followed by a half-hour game. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child. SOCCER Youth Soccer ages 3-18: Here at the Y, we not only respect the game of soccer, we live it. Our goal is to provide all participants a program that strives to develop them to their fullest potential not only as a soccer player but a person as well. We focus on offering a quality soccer experience in an enjoyable atmosphere, while developing teamwork and enhancing the competitive nature. We will offer a few skill sessions to enhance performance. BASKETBALL Basketball League ages 6-13: Originally started by the YMCA, basketball is a fun team sport that grows character and teamwork. Teams practice once a week and play games on Saturdays. FLAG FOOTBALL Flag Football Skills Development ages 5-12: Get ready for the flag football season by learning all about the game while having fun! Also learn how we can better the community. McCleskey Y Fall: August Flag Football League ages 5-12: Huddle up for fun! YMCA Flag Football is a recreational program designed for coed youngsters new to the sport of football as well as those not quite ready for tackle football. Our focus is on football education, participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Games are held on Sunday afternoons. McCleskey Y Fall/Winter: November – February

Volleyball ages 7-18: Bump, set, spike! We have teamed up with Cobb Atlanta Juniors Volleyball to offer a recreational volleyball league. This league will focus on skill development and teamwork. Adult Inline Hockey League ages 30+: Games played in three 8-minute periods! Register individually. Captains select teams after evaluations. Goalies of any age play for free, but must register as a program member. Teams selected during mid-week practices and scrimmages. Required Equipment: HECC approved helmet with full facemask, skates with no brakes, knee & shin pads, mouth guard, stick, gloves, elbow pads, protective cup; Recommended: chest protector. Games are held on Sunday nights, and we have Open Stick Nights on Wednesdays. Northeast Y Year-Round

Tae Kwon Do ages 3+: Tae Kwon do is a Korean martial art that benefits everyone. We focus on building self-confidence, discipline, stretching, coordination, memorization skills and of course, kicking and punching! Training will involve target practice, kicking drills, forms (poomsae), and Olympic-style sparring. Promotion tests will occur periodically when the student is ready. Active Older Adults

Over 2,700 seniors participated in wellness workshops, special events

& trips to stay engaged, as well as exercise classes to keep them vibrant and healthy.

Summer Camp & Youth Sports Scholarships 386 kids gained a sense of responsibility, learned new skills, and made new friends. See our video. Special Needs Sports 57 kids took part in our adapted soccer, swim & basketball programs, in partnership with MDE school. Early Learning (The Little School) 140 English-language learners are better prepared to start kindergarten. School’s Out Lunch Program 16,975 lunches were served to Cobb School children are on free/ reduced lunch, so they won’t go without a healthy meal while school is out. Farm Fresh 701 families were served with farm fresh mobile markets because there are 14 food deserts in Cobb County, and families have decreased access to fresh produce. Check out the video.
