The Port of Berbera owned and operated by the Government of the Republic of Somaliland

BERBERA PORT:

Berbera has been operational as a port for more than a thousand years, the present was developed initially by Soviet Union in 1968 (300 meter) and expanded 350 meters linear wharf in 1984 by U.S.A.

Berbera Port is longest established port in Somaliland and has grown with the city to become one of the most prominent ports in East Africa

Port Security enhancement

ACTIVITIES: -

Control all the entrant persons and vehicles to the Port.

Surveillance the movement of the people and the cargo

Decide the security of the port and its surrounding.

STAFF PATROLLING: 1. quay and access channels, using

speed boats 2. in vulnerable areas around the clock

These security enhancements include: CCTV RADAR SMART ACCESS CARDS

ISPS – code

Berbera Port terminals now have the required certificate issued by

Nordic Crises Management

Anti-Piracy Commission

To enhance the control of the sea the government establishment of the anti-piracy

commission, to monitor the activities of the sea piracy and to be a partnership with International

Community in fighting against sea-piracy.

Coast-guard

The Coast guard play a major roll in fighting against sea-piracy, and promote

the security of our territorial water.

In order to develop security guard in Somaliland territorial water the

Government upgraded the stander of the coast-guards.

Community

We underline the roll of the community in play-part by protect

territorial water against piracy.

Their ayes and ears are the most important weapon

against piracy
