Finding the real (resistive) and imaginary (reactive) components of the complex impedance from the reflection coefficient involves the equations shown below. The real and imaginary parts of the reflection coefficient (see columns S11x, S11y) are calculated from the phase and magnitude that is provided by the network analyzer. Finally, those values are plugged in to the equations for the real and imaginary parts of the normalized impedance, and then multiplied by the source impedance (50 + j0 ohms) to return the denormalized complex load impedance. Output impedance is calculated in a similar manner.
