Smallest Footprint and Lowest Price Ever – but still a Genuine Vista – 22 Fader is very compact; due to its modular concept, demands for a higher I/O count may easily be fulfilled by increasing the number of DSP modules. Channel formats include 2-channel stereo, LCR, LCRS and 5.1. The integrated 5.1-to-stereo downmix function allows for simultaneous live production in both formats. Also included is Studer’s famous ‘Virtual Surround Panning’ (VSP II™) that not only uses amplitude, but also delay time and frequency response panning algorithms. The smallest and youngest member of the Studer Vista console family is born – the Vista 5 M2 with 22 faders. It has been developed for all the broadcast production and recording studios that have been waiting for a mixer with the ergonomic, time-saving Vista user interface and functionality, but have a limited budget, and for locations where space is at a premium, such as in OB vans, musical venues or theatres, where a console from the current Vista range was too large. With its widely-acclaimed Vistonics user interface and the renowned Studer sound it is on a par with its larger siblings. Thanks to the flexible D21m I/O system and the sophisticated N–X bus concept it is as versatile as the larger Vista 5 desks with 32 or 42 faders. Production data – e.g. snapshots, mix automation data or theatre play lists – are compatible with the ones from the whole Vista range. The optional Configuration Editor allows matching the DSP resources exactly to the current task, enabling a quick reconfiguration of the system. The number of inputs and outputs required can be specified by the customer. The SCore Live DSP core The new 22-fader Vista 5 M2, shown with the optional TFT meter bridge

is very compact; due to its modular concept, demands for a higher I/O count may easily be fulfilled by increasing the number of DSP modules.

– 22 Fader: Smallest Footprint and Lowest Price Ever – but still a Genuine Vista

All Vista control functionality is retained, with up to 22 channels available for adjustment at any time, with several fader pages available. 40 more channels can be accessed by the rotary knobs on the Control Bay Vistonics™ screen.

The new, optional TFT meter bridge is also available for the new 22-fader Vista 5 M2 console. It is capable of displaying signal levels from mono through 5.1 channels on each input. A configurable lower-screen area can be used to display bus assignment, surround images or the unique ‘History Mode’, where a scrolling audio

waveform displays signal anomalies and highlights them for up to 50 seconds, showing the engineer precisely where the event occurred – a great tool for hectic live production situations. Metering for ‘layer 2’ signals can also be viewed, while the Control Bay screen can be used to provide configurable user pages with up to 40 meters.

When the TFT meter bridge is fitted, the external GC screen becomes an integral part of the chassis. Since this is a simple add-on it can also be retrofitted later, as soon as the budget allows.

As if this wasn’t enough, the Vista 5 M2 can be combined with stageboxes from the whole Vista range, including the new Studer Vi and Compact Stageboxes as well as with existing Soundcraft Vi and Compact Stageboxes. This enables the user to mix and match consoles with stageboxes as required by the current project.

The 4U Studer Compact Stagebox, in conjunction with the highly flexible SCore Live, its multiple D21m card slots and a wide range of audio format interfaces, provides an attractively priced mixing solution with a high I/O capacity and remote control of input gain, 48 V phantom power and low-cut filter. It comes as standard with 32 mic/line inputs and 16 line outputs and connects to the DSP core via a twisted-pair or optical, multi-channel MADI link. Two extension slots for D21m cards allow interfacing to additional analogue I/O signals and also to a wide range of industry standard digital signal formats.
