September’s Special Activity Insight

Theme of the Month: National Assisted Living Week The festivities kick off on September 9th, Grandparents’ Day and continue throughout the week to celebrate our residents and our amazing staff members! Check out the calendar for the theme each day and dress accordingly!

Health and Wellness: Victoria Landing is continuing our partnership with Melbourne Athletic Club to offer residents a new fitness opportunity at their gym, located about 5 minutes away! Transportation will be provided every Monday and Wednesday for residents with memberships. Loose fitting clothing, tennis shoes, and water are recommended for attendees. The special discount also extends to resident families and staff members.

Culinary Expressions: Join us in the 2nd floor culinary expressions room for an interactive demonstration from either Chef Jon or Sarah Beth in our culinary services department. Have a favorite family recipe you want to share with the group? Submit it to Maxime or Katie. These recipes will become part of the Victoria Landing cookbook and MIGHT even be demonstrated in our culinary expressions class!

Mad Science Mondays: Join Katie every other Monday as she explores different science experiments and creatively interesting things to do. You never know what your going to make, do, or see during one of the “experiments”.

Letter from the Executive Director

Door Locks and keys: You will see personnel from Morse Communica-

tions here the new few weeks. They will be changing out your current

door lock and replacing it with a new one. You will be getting a new

proximity key to your door when your lock is changed out. You will not

notice any difference with your key as they look identical however, your

old key will not work.

National Assisted Living Week is celebrated in September of every year.

We will be kicking off this big celebration on Sunday, September 9th as

we commemorate Grandparents Day and honor our grandparents and

the grandparents among us.

THEMES:

Monday – Silly Sock Day - Dress in Silly Socks. We will have a Chocolate

Chip Cookie Competition – I will definitely assist with the Judging of this

competition!

Tuesday – America Strong – Red, White and Blue is the theme for this

day.

Wednesday – Wild Safari – Animal Print is the attire for this day. We’ll

end the day with a WILD happy hour.

Thursday – Sports Fan Day – Who’s your favorite Team? Today is the

day to be a Fanatic Fan!

Friday – Dragonfly Day – From socks to shirts and jewelry, it is surprising

how many things I see that have dragonflies on them. Wear your

dragonfly attire and join us for an amazing scavenger hunt.

This is a time to celebrate what we do, why we do it and who we do it

with! Most importantly, we will be celebrating with you what we know

and love!

The Space Coast Honor Flight organization is looking for military veterans to participate in their program to fly veterans from all wars (WWII vets have priority) to our nation’s capital, at no expense to the veteran, to see memorials erected in tribute to the men and women who served this great nation.
