Shepshed Memorial Gala 2015 Another very exciting gala hosted by Shepshed SC in memory of their former members PC Bryan Moore and PC Andy Munn – two police officers who were killed in a road traffic accident whilst on duty in 2002. The gala is run in their memory every year and to raise money for their charity COPS (Care of Police Survivors). As always this gala proves to be very competitive between Shepshed and two other invited clubs, this year LTSC were again invited to participate along with Coalville. After the first 10 events Shepshed were leading by one point followed by LTSC. After 20 events LTSC brought it back and was in the lead by another one point with Shepshed coming in second. By now all the teams were getting very excited and the team spirit was bursting at the seams. After 30 events LTSC were leading by 6 points! The spectator area was full of cheer and so was the poolside. Shepshed SC were chanting their name and so was everyone else, the swimming pool was well and truly buzzing at this stage. The kids swam their hearts out and it showed as the final results came in and LTSC had won the gala by 10 points – 161 followed by Shepshed Black with 151. Everyone swam exceptionally well and what a win we had. Well done everyone! At the end of the gala Niamh and Alex presented Shepshed SC with a cheque donation of £100 from LTSC for their charity COPS to help other families who have lost loved ones while on duty. A note of ‘thanks’ has been sent from Shepshed to all at LTSC for their kind donation to COPS. Some of the swimming team with the winning shield. LTSC Sprint Gala 2015 On Saturday 23rd May we held our annual Sprint Gala. For some of our younger swimmers this was their first experience of a gala – we hope you enjoyed it and are pleased with your first swims which are all counted as PBs. Throughout the evening there was some fast swimming from all and the older age group gave a few of our Master swimmers a good race. Keep up the hard work and let’s see more fast swimming at the Distance Gala in June. As the Sprint gala was a licensed gala the results are placed on Rankings, which can be found here http://www.swimmingresults.org Thank you to all swimmers and to the officials, timekeepers, poolside/desk helpers etc. Without you all the galas cannot run, let alone run smoothly on the night.

We are always looking out for volunteers and you will only be asked to help at galas where your child/ren are swimming.

Upcoming Social Event On Thursday 9th July we are holding a fun session at Loughborough Leisure Centre. This will take place instead of the normal training session and all swimming members are welcome to join in the fun. We have a session from 6-7pm for the younger swimmers and then another session from 7-8pm for the older swimmers.

If you would like your child/ren to attend please email Lisa Harrison at [email protected] with session and how many swimmers, so we know who will be attending each session. Due to insurance purposes only those swimmers who are registered as LTSC Members will be able to join in, siblings who are no longer members in the 2015 renewals will not be able to join in, sorry.

Master Swimmers – Training will be as normal, 8.30pm – 9.30pm.

Photography Consent/Refusal Forms As part of Safeguarding our children we are asking carers/parents to fill in these forms so we are able to post photos on our website and newsletter safely knowing we have consent. These forms are now on the LTSC website, a link can be found under the New Member heading which will lead you to these forms. If you haven’t already filled in a form at the Sprint Gala, please can you read the ASA policy documents before you print and sign the relevant form and hand back to Julie Conway or another LTSC coach/official, thank you.

Future Payments to LTSC As you can appreciate our Treasurer receives many payments from all our members every month and has the job of balancing the spreadsheets. If we could help him by making this a little easier it would be very much appreciated.

If you make combined payments to LTSC via a cheque, please state on the reverse what the amount total is for e.g. £27 monthly subscription and £5 for a LTSC hat, total £32.00 If you make single/combined payments via BACS then please could these be done in a separate payment with a reference stating what/who the amount is for/from. If you pay with cash please include the correct amount and write on the envelope what/who the amount is for/from so this can also be tallied and recorded correctly.
