Performance NotesHere is a rousing, spirited invitation to join in the feast of God’s goodness. This piece wasinspired by the vision of the messianic banquet as described in Isaiah 25 in which the bountyof God is expressed in cosmic proportions.

The ever-repeated invitation to “Come to the feast” makes this an obvious choice for aGathering Song.

The real key to making this piece “work” is in the vitality and strength of accompaniment.Even though the time signature is in 3, this is not a waltz. The feel is much more robust. Thiscan be accomplished if the first beat of each measure is given a strong accent. The movementis not jerky, but should certainly not be delicate or smooth.

The Refrain is the high point of the song. The Verses begin slightly more subdued, especiallythe first half. One way of accomplishing this is to have a cantor perform the first half, thechoir joining in on the Refrain. As the assembly becomes familiar with the melody leadinginto the Refrain, the descant part can be added.
