MARY’S SONG

Millie Rieth

—Editor

Performance NotesThis updated octavo of Millie Reith’s popular Mary’s Song now includes an alternative arrangement for SSAA choir, as well as the original SATB choir arrangement. The original SATB arrangement is presented on pages 2–9. When performing the SSAA version, sing verses 1 and 2 as printed on pages 2–5 (verse 1 - unison, verse 2 - Soprano/Alto). At the end of the first system on page 5 (see asterisks), the singers should go to the SSAA arrangement on page 10 for verses 3 and 4. Verse 3 is SSAA, and verse 4 tapers to only 2nd Soprano and 1st Alto. If desired on verse 4, all sopranos may sing the 2nd Soprano part and all altos may sing the 1st Alto part.

Since the organ accompaniment is the same for both versions, the organist should continue reading from the original score on page 5 until the end. The flute part is also exactly the same for both versions.
