Let Us Go Rejoicing (Psalm 122)

Composer NotesSpeaking as it does of going to the house of God, Psalm 122 is especially apt for gathering. Thissetting may be performed more simply for regular Sunday celebrations or more grandly foroccasions such as the dedication or anniversary of a church (see edition #70302 for instrumentalparts for brass, timpani, and strings). Either way, the simple assembly refrain is easily learned, freeing eyes and hands from songbooks or programs, while the cantor and choir sing the verses.Specific uses throughout the church year are given below:

Advent 1A: Gathering, ResponsorialOrdinary Time 34C–Christ the King: ResponsorialCommon Responsorial: Last Weeks in Ordinary TimeAnniversary of the Dedication of a Church: Gathering, Responsorial PsalmFuneral Liturgy (various places in the rites)Gathering: throughout the year
