HELP US MEASURE HOW WE ARE DOING! Over the past several months, Shalom's council, staff, and team leaders have developed a survey to help gauge how well Shalom is living out our Vision and Mission Statements. The survey is centered around the four movements of our Mission Statement: Discipleship, Worship, Community and Communicating Christ to the World. The goal is not to give ourselves a grade, but rather, to establish a baseline for where we are now. As we answer the same questions in the years that follow, we can use the survey results to identify areas of progress as well as areas where more attention may be needed. The survey is open to all ages and can be accessed online at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ShalomCRC2019. The online version will be active through November 18. We will also have paper versions available on the table in the narthex. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete; your answers are anonymous. DID YOU KNOW? As we near the end of the year, the deacons would like to remind the congregation that Shalom has a brokerage account that can be used to donate stocks, bonds, or mutual funds directly to Shalom. The benefit of donating money this way is that you get the full tax deduction but won’t incur any capital gains taxes like you would if you sold the security on your own. Please contact a deacon or Dawn at the Shalom office for more details. DEADLINE FOR WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS is Wednesday by 8:00am. THE BANQUET –

Shalom is scheduled to serve at The Banquet on Saturday, November 16. We need about 40 people to work! The Outreach Team encourages you to sign up for a work shift to help serve our neighbors in the community a much needed meal. Without community volunteers, The Banquet wouldn't be able to serve as many families and individuals as they currently do, therefore your willingness to volunteer is critical! We are in need of 8-10 people to sign up to prep the meal in the morning at 8:30am and another 30 people to begin serving at 10:45am. If you are willing to work one or both of these shifts, please sign up by clicking the following link: Banquet sign-up. If you have any questions, please contact Brendon De Boer at [email protected]

Children are welcome to help serve, but please note that children under the age of 13 are not allowed to help with food preparations due to state regulations. Open-toed shoes are not allowed.

We are also in need of $1,000 to pay for the meal we serve. Please make checks payable to Shalom and indicate “The Banquet project” on the “Other” line of your offering envelope, or place your loose check in the offering bag indicating “The Banquet project” on the memo line of the check.

The Banquet is located at 900 E. 8th St. Please share the gifts God has given you. Thank you! MISSION HAITI – We will have 17 individuals from our church participating in our trip to Haiti in January. Please be in prayer for the preparation of all the hearts, minds, and bodies that will be traveling to not only represent our church, but to be the hands and feet of Christ and learn about Him while staying with our brothers and sisters in Ti Riviere. FURNITURE MISSION – Our next opportunity to serve at the Furniture Mission is December 7. There are many different jobs to be done: going out with delivery trucks for home deliveries and pickups, assisting clients at the Furniture Mission who come in to pick out their furniture, answering phones, and general cleaning. We meet at the Furniture Mission at 8:00am on each respective Saturday that we serve, and we are finished by 11:00am. To run the mission successfully each month, we are in need of 12-14 volunteers. Follow the sign up directions above to join in! CORNERSTONE CHURCH – Shalom will be sending a group to worship at Cornerstone Prison Church on Friday, November 29. While the day after Thanksgiving can be busy, we want to challenge you to spend a meaningful time of worship with those who won’t get to spend Thanksgiving with their families. Deadline for signing up is November 14. Get involved by talking to either Dave and Laura Pluim or Brendon De Boer. FRIENDSHIP – Friendship has gotten off to an awesome start! We have lots of opportunities to get involved and serve those who are in need of a spiritual mentor and friend!
