DID YOU KNOW? As we near the end of the year, the deacons would like to remind the congregation that Shalom has a brokerage account that can be used to donate stocks, bonds, or mutual funds directly to Shalom. The benefit of donating money this way is that you get the full tax deduction but won’t incur any capital gains taxes like you would if you sold the security on your own. Please contact a deacon or Dawn at the Shalom office for more details. DEADLINE FOR WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS is Wednesday by 8:00am. Adam Hofer experienced complications following wisdom teeth extraction procedure. Please pray for healing and no further complications. Michaela Hofer has been struggling with fatigue and shortness of breath (they think related to thyroid problems) since the first week of September. Please pray for healing or finding treatment adequate to return her strength. Thank you for all the prayers cards and words of encouragement with the passing of my mom, Norma. Thanks to Pastor Kyle and church friends for supporting and helping us during this difficult time. -- Kevin and Brenda Gunderson.

Rachel De Boer’s grandma (85 years old) passed away Friday, November 15, from complications following a heart surgery. She was relatively healthy otherwise, so this is quite a shock to the family. Please pray for Brendon, Rachel, and their family in this loss.

In this season of Thanksgiving, give praise for the bountiful blessings God has blessed each of us with.

CHRISTMAS CAROLING & POTLUCK – Congregation you are invited to join us on Sunday, December 8, as we Christmas carol at designated locations in our area. Meet at church at 4:30pm to be sent out to carol, and then we will join back at church following for a fellowship potluck. To properly organize the caroling locations, we do ask that you sign up ahead of time. You can do that by clicking her: http://bit3.ly/33M4oZa

KID ZONE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE continues this coming Sunday. Check your e-mail for songs to practice at home with your kids. The Christmas program team is looking for volunteers to play piano or other instruments as the prelude and offering music on Sunday, December 15. Please reach out to Danielle Schouten if your kids are interested. This is open to kids and youth of all ages. CHILDREN AND WORSHIP will meet every Sunday in November. Please check the Service Assignments section below for weekly greeter assignments. NURSERY VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP is now open for January-March 2020! Sign up by using this link: https://signup.com/go/WvwcKkm We are also still looking for two adults and one student to volunteer for our Candlelight/Christmas Eve service at 5pm. If we do not have any volunteers for that service, the nursery will be open for use, but it will be unstaffed.

SIOUX VALLEY CADET COUNCIL PRAISE AND WORSHIP - Sioux Valley Cadet Council praise and worship event for all Cadets and counselors will be Sunday, November 24 at Colton Faith Community Church (200 S. Dakota Ave., Colton, SD 57018) at 4:00pm with a light supper to follow. All Cadets and counselors are encouraged to come to this time of singing praises to our God and hear His word spoken.

HELP NEEDED – Volunteers are needed to help open and close the church on Sunday mornings. This task requires a commitment of three times per year. Harlan would supply you with all the information and instructions needed to do this important task. If you would like to serve in this way, please contact him at [email protected] or 351-2300. LOST AND FOUND – If you are missing items, please check the Lost and Found box on the shelf in west entrance of the narthex.

OUTREACH SIGN-UPS – All Outreach volunteer opportunities and sign-ups are listed under the Outreach portion of our website www.shalomcrc.org. Please contact Brendon De Boer if you have any questions. FURNITURE MISSION – Our next opportunity to serve at the Furniture Mission is Saturday, December 7. There are many different jobs to be done: going out with delivery trucks for home deliveries and pickups, assisting clients at the Furniture Mission who come in to pick out their furniture, answering phones, and general cleaning. We meet at the Furniture Mission at 8:00am on each respective Saturday that we serve, and we are finished by 11:00am. To run the mission successfully each month, we are in need of 12-14 volunteers. Follow the sign up directions above to join in! SHARING CHRISTMAS - (formerly The Holiday Clearing House) was created as a way to centralize distributing holiday assistance to Sioux Falls

families who are in need. The program matches these families at the holidays with a donor family that can help provide gifts, clothes, and

sometimes even a Christmas meal. Shalom has committed to purchasing and distributing gifts to each member of fifteen individual families.

Listed below is how you can help:

On Sunday, November 24 after the worship service, envelopes indicating a gift spending range ($15-60) and wish lists for the families Shalom is serving will be taped to the windows in the foyer. Picking up envelopes will be self-serve style, but please check in at the sign out table located in the narthex so we can keep track of who has taken which envelopes. We do ask that you keep your gift purchase amount close to the amount indicated on the envelope as to not have one member of the family receiving a substantial amount more than any other family member. Deadline for returning gifts is Wednesday, December 4. Please refer to information in the envelope for instructions for returning gifts. Unwrapped gifts can be brought Brendon’s office (west side of the fellowship hall).

We will also need volunteers to serve on distribution day Saturday, December 7 from 9 -10:30am. We need a kitchen crew, greeters, and people willing to sit and eat a donut with our guests! Please take advantage of this opportunity as it may be the easiest and tastiest service opportunity of the year! You can find the sign up list at the envelope sign out table.

MISSION HAITI –

Mission Haiti will once again be presenting the opportunity to pick up a sponsorship packet. On Sunday, November 24th, we will have an opportunity to sponsor the incoming class at Lines School. Now that construction is complete, it’s time to make sure as many kids as possible can have the opportunity to go to school! The table will be in the Fellowship Hall where you can pick out a student you would like to sponsor for the upcoming school year (and hopefully many school years following). More information will be given during the Sunday’s services November 17th and 24th. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

We will have 17 individuals from our church participating in our trip to Haiti in January. Please be in prayer for the preparation of all the hearts, minds, and bodies that will be traveling to not only represent our church, but to be the hands and feet of Christ and learn about Him while staying with our brothers and sisters in Ti Riviere.

WORKERS ON WHEELS – Shalom’s assistance is needed for the vulnerable seniors in our community this winter! Val Lietz is the Director for Workers on Wheels, and they have a program called “Adopt a Sidewalk” where volunteers help seniors with snow removal throughout the winter season. Currently, they have over 50 homeowners on the needs list and more are calling in each day. There are only enough volunteers committed to cover 20 homes! The volunteers need to have the snow removed within the City Ordinance time frame of 48 hours after the snow event for their assigned homeowner(s). Homeowners are assigned by the zip code or home/work address designated by the volunteers so you can literally be helping your neighbors and maybe even your church members in the 57103 zip code area. If Interested, please contact Val at [email protected] or 605-333-3307. FRIENDSHIP – Friendship has gotten off to an awesome start! We have lots of opportunities to get involved and serve those who are in need of a spiritual mentor and friend! Email Brendon De Boer at [email protected] if you are curious, have questions, or are ready to get involved. LORD’S SUPPER – We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on Sunday, November 24, at the morning service. HOLIDAY SERVICE SCHEDULE –
