Sewa International Nepal earthquake ground report May 7, 2015
On April 25, 2015, Nepal experienced a 7.8
magnitude earthquake killing more than 7,500
people and injuring more than 14,500.
Millions of people were rendered homeless with
entire villages flattened, across many districts of the
country.
Torrential rains have heightened the suffering of
survivors, who are sleeping out in the open because
their houses have been destroyed. Aftershocks are
causing buildings to collapse as rescue teams are
slowly reaching many of the worst hit villages
The disaster wiped out billions of dollars of
infrastructure: buildings, roads, schools, businesses,
homes, and livelihoods.
Sewa International is engaged in relief operations
through partner organizations like Hindu
Swayamsevak Sangh Nepal, Pragyik Vidyarthi
Parishad Nepal, Jankalyan Pratisthan, Jananati
Kalyan Ashram, Pashupati Shiksha Prasaar Samiti
and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
