discuss our own Candie Blankman's , "Forged By War".
"All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr is a cur-
rent best-seller. Will you like it? Discussions are always
interesting, and differing opinions welcome. All are wel-
come on October 9.
Our book for November 13 is "Searching for Sunday, lov-
ing leaving and finding the church" by Rachael Held Evans. This 2015 book is timely. If you
cannot attending Reading Club, contract the Whittiers about arranging for discussion at
another time.
We meet the 2nd Friday of the month, 9:30-11am in the SCPC Resource Library. All are
welcome. Contacts: Bob and Mary Ann Whittier, 498-4526,

CLEAN WATER — ESSENTAIL FOR GOOD HEALTH From June 2015 Y-Malawi Bulletin Issue No. 1
For years, people of the Chipse village in Nkhoma had no access to clean water.
The villagers used to draw water from a nearby river where animals like cattle and
pigs used to also drink. Sikitina Richard, one of the villagers, recalls the situation
then. She says that during rainy season the river could be filled with water up to the banks, making fetching
water risky. Besides that, the water had a lot of waste and was contaminated. “My children used to suffer
from diarrhea. As a result, they were absent from school. Sometimes they were going to school very late as a
I spent time searching for water,” she explained.
Today the village has a borehole which was
drilled by World Vision with support from Y-
Malawi. According to Richard, the coming of the
borehole has been a relief to the village. She says
her children have good health and no longer
suffer from diarrhea.
As partners with Y-Malawi, our child sponsorship
funds and other Y-Malawi donations have
supported these types of programs. Please keep
our Y-Malawi partners in your prayers. If you
would like to serve with them next summer,
contact Kim Nicolai at [email protected].

Our Missions Partner, C.A.R.E. Philippines, has a Feeding Ministry in San Joseph Elementary School, one
of their partner public schools in Antipolo. They provide lunch Monday — Friday every week for 65
“severely-malnourished” school children whose parents are too poor to feed them. They are encour-
aged by reports that these children are improving not only in physical weight but also in their daily
attendance and performance in school. They and their parents are also "fed" with the precious Word of
God regularly. C.A.R.E. Philippines is grateful to God and SCPC for financial support for this ministry.
