Listening

Students listen to the teacher & to each other speaking in Spanish.

They also listen to music, taped dialogs, exercises, radio broadcasts, etc.

AP listening activities.

Speaking

Students speak Spanish everyday as soon as they come to class.

They also teach a lesson on familiar grammar topics in Spanish.

They have telephone conversations between 2 families from 2 Spanish-speaking countries.

Students will make presentations on famous Hispanic people, art work, etc.

They will answer a number of questions on one topic to prepare for the AP exam.

“En el Café” chats.Phone calls to Mrs. Berryman.

Writing

Students write to practice grammar topics: They write compositions on a given topic &

they have a week to prepare it.Students complete exercises about the

readings in the textbook.They complete many exercises on the AP

book.Students write emails and brief presentations

to prepare for the AP exam.

Reading Students will read samples of literature of

Spain the 1st half of the year. They will read Latin-American literature the

2nd part of the year. These works will be presented chronologically

and they will be read in the classroom to improve the students’ pronunciation and comprehension.

Students will also read 2 books independently.

Culture

Students will be exposed to the Spanish culture through movies, music, art work, food, etc

They will read newspaper articles from a variety of Spanish speaking countries a few times a month.

Students will make presentations about famous people in the Hispanic culture also.
