St. Mary Preschool

Back in November, we held a food drive. In addition

to bringing in canned goods and non-perishable items,

students also brought in various birthday supplies. Now that

the holidays are over, we have more time to finish this part of

our service project. Year 2 students decorated birthday cards,

which turned out just beautiful! Year 1 students helped to

pack up individual birthday bags! Each bag contained a birth-

day card, cake mix, icing, sprinkles and candles. I will be de-

livering all of the birthday bags to our community food bank

this week. We hope to make many birthdays brighter this

year!!

As we Celebrate Saint Meinrad Sunday this weekend, I must express that I have always admired how Saint Meinrad continues to move forward in its commitment to quality academic and spiritual formation programs for priests, permanent deacons and lay ministers. This commitment has allowed them to not only survive but also thrive during the past 150 years.

Our Diocese and our parishes benefit from the training Saint Meinrad provides for Priests, Deacons and the laity. Fr. Jeff, Deacon Jerry, Deacon John and I received our training at Saint Meinrad. Several of our young people have attended the annual leadership confer-ence, One Bread One Cup. On both a local and parish level it is clear Saint Meinrad has made lasting positive affects. I will be forever grateful to the formation and continued support that I receive from all on that “Holy Hill”. Fr. Jeff continues to be formed through the efforts of the Institute of Priests and Presbyterates at Saint Meinrad.

Saint Meinrad continues to serve not only this area but the whole world. This year over 160 seminarians are enrolled at Saint Meinrad preparing for Priesthood. That is one of the largest enrolments in years. God is answering our prayers for priests.

I encourage you to think about helping Saint Meinrad as they continue to serve the Church in preparing others to be leaders. Please keep Saint Meinrad in your prayers, visit Saint Meinrad, and if you can please support them in their ministry. We all benefit from their work in preparing the laity, Deacons and Priests.

In Christ, Fr. Gary
