“THE IMPORTANCE OF FATHERHOOD”with A Special Guest Speaker

My Loved Ones,

Today, we begin our Fall Revival which will continue until Tuesday evening. Our hope is that God will provide us with a powerful revival of mind, body and soul and move us to greater heights of spiritual renewal.

We welcome to the pulpit our Revival preachers Reverend Shane Scott, Pastor Macedonia Baptist Church, Los Angeles,

California; Dr. Howard John Wesley, Pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia; and Dr. Marcus D. Cosby, Senior Pastor of

Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, in Houston, Texas. We pray that God will use them to get us “Fired Up” to continue the work of ministry we have been called to in His name.

On Saturday, we will commence our Season of Men throughout the month of October I am asking all men of Grace to make a commitment to participate in the activities planned for the month. During this season, we are praying to re-ignite the flame of ministry and fellowship in the men of Grace that will cause an explosion during October that will impact the life of Grace and the Men’s Ministry, now and for future generations of men who will inherit what we leave them. Let us come together embracing the present and pregnant possibilities for ministry while seeking to build for the future.

I am looking forward to you joining me for Baptism and Communion this evening and all the revival services this week. Please continue praying for the Lord to send us a great Revival. “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?” Psalm 86:5

Be blessed,

Pastor

BAPTISMCHRISTIAN

EXPERIENCE

Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley, a biblical scholar and arguably one of the greatest orators of our generation, is the gifted, anointed, and dynamic pastor of the historic Alfred Street Baptist Church (ASBC) in Alexandria, Virginia. A courageous, exciting, and visionary leader, Dr. Wesley is a much sought after preacher, teacher, and featured national keynote speaker for various churches, leadership and development programs. He is only the eighth pastor to be installed in the 213-year history of the historic and world-renowned Alfred Street Baptist Church. Reverend Dr. Howard-John Wesley represents the fourth generation of Baptist preachers in his family. He is the son of the late Rev. Dr. Alvin J. Wesley and Dr. Helene J. Wesley. A 1994 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University; he doubled majored in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. After his first year in medical school, he yielded to God’s call once again and walked away from a medical career to attend semi-nary in preparation for serving God’s people. He attended the Boston University School of Theology where he was a Martin L. King, Jr. Scholar and a 1997 summa cum laude grad-uate concentrating on Biblical Studies and African-American religious history. His passion

for preaching and learning led him to the Associated Chicago Theological School’s Doctor of Ministry in Preaching Program where he graduated from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary with his Doctor of Ministry degree in 2003. A member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Dr. Wesley is an avid golfer who also enjoys movies, reading, and working out. He is the proud father of two beautiful sons, Howard-John, II and Cooper Reece.

The Reverend Dr. Marcus D. Cosby, the third child born to the late Mr. Rogers Cosby and Mrs. Bobbie J. Cosby, serves as the Senior Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. A proud native of Chicago, Illinois and a product of Emmanuel Baptist Church where Dr. L.K. Curry served as pastor, Cosby received the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and English from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, the Master of Divinity Degree in Homiletics and Christian Education from the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Georgia and the Doctor of Ministry Degree in Homiletics from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, Illinois. Dr. Cosby is married to his high school sweetheart, Mrs. Audrey Marie Cosby, and they have been blessed with three beautiful daughters, Adrienne Marie, Ashley Marie and Aliyah Marie and two sons, Marcus D., II and Matthew D. Cosby. As the successor to the Founding Pastor of Wheeler Avenue, Dr. William A. Lawson, Pastor Cosby has been blessed to continue the ministry of this intentionally intergen-erational congregation in the inner city of Houston, Texas since 2004, having served as Asso-ciate Pastor since 1998. As a consequence of his passion for qualitative preaching, Dr. Cosby

has committed himself to equipping preachers for the work of the ministry. In addition to training the more than 100 ministers who comprise the Clergy Team of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, he serves as Adjunct Professor of Homiletics at Houston Graduate School of Theology and has taught the same at the Houston extension program of the ITC.

Since November 2011, Rev. Shane B. Scott has served as the senior pastor of the historic Macedonia Baptist Church located in Los Angeles, CA that has served the Watts Community for more than 100 years. Pastor Scott is a powerful and anointed messenger, teacher and speaker. His voice and unique view into Christian living offers diverse groups a meaningful lens for examining and empowering their lives. By example and edict, Rev. Scott has motivated changed people to change the world. The Macedonian message of being an accepting, loving, inspiring, visioning and encouraging congregation is one that involves a ministry of disciple-ship, mission and transforming the soul of the community. He says, “We are a historic, relevant congregation with a vision to speak truth to power as we forge collaborations between church and community to exhibit unity as a household of faith.” Pastor Scott pursued his secondary education at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity degree from the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, CA with an emphasis in Pastoral Care and Community Development. Pastor Scott has served as the Youth Minister of the historic Third Baptist Church

of San Francisco and Youth & Young Adult Pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church in Vallejo, CA. As the Senior Pastor of the Saint Rest Baptist Church in Fresno, CA, the church experienced phenomenal spiritual growth under his leadership resulting in increased church membership, strategic partnerships, and the development of a Life Center that is destined to become an agent of change.SU
