FCMA’s leadership team for the next several years is as dedicated and capable as we have ever seen. Over the last several years, we have seen FCMA’s original 1996 mission, “promoting the lawful advancement and protection of its members, their employees, and the general public,” materialize into specific goals and objectives. FCMA’s business plan for 2009 includes carefully thought out activities for government affairs, public relations, membership, and member education committees that are clearly “mission aligned.” FCMA is extremely well positioned to “stay the course” with its goals and to be of enduring value to Members, their employees, and the Community. Serving FCMA has been both a pleasure and rewarding experience. I am looking forward to encouraging others to participate on FCMA’s leadership team next year as Chairman of your 2010 Director Nominating Committee. Best wishes to all and very truly yours, Steven T. Jenkins

Professional Progress grew from conversations of Jacksonville government and business leaders. The Dept.of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Northeast District office and FCMA recognized its employees’ andmembers’ needs for career development courses on subjects necessary for success and survival in theworkplace and created this program. It was designed to provide instruction, interaction and discussionrelated to skills necessary for success in today’s workplace. Taking the extra steps that many degree

programs do not, this program offers courses such as: time/stress management, financial planning, conflict resolution, presentationskills, basic law, civic pride, cultural awareness and overall professional development; as well as providing a unique opportunity tosee behind the scenes view of manufacturing on the First Coast.

The class is comprised of students from FCMA members, FDEP, St. Johns River Water Management District, and the City'sEnvironmental Resource Management Dept. Since its inception in 1997, the program has graduated over 250. Cost is $900 perstudent (one/company) and class size limited to 25. Classes meet one day per month from March through September (with akick-off reception held on February 18). Click here for nomination form and sign up today!
