To date, we have operated more than 250 charters aboard Sea Cloud ships. As Kalos guests will attest, when we are onboard a Sea Cloud vessel, the ship staff and Kalos staff work seamlessly as one team with a single goal: customer delight.

Sea Cloud Spirit launches in the fall of 2020. Our first full charter aboard will be in the spring of 2021 and will feature the same level of first-class, personalized service and accommodations that our guests recognize. As well, Sea Cloud Spirit epitomizes the charm and tradition of a ship purpose-built as a classic sailing vessel while simultaneously boasting “modern” enhancements, including cabins with private outdoor space, a large full-service spa, and a casual, on-deck bistro dining option.

From our beginnings as a tour operator, the way we travel has been distinct. Our preference is to charter small ships so that we can arrange itineraries that optimize both golf and touring experiences for our guests, and our most prolific charter relationship has been with Sea Cloud Cruises.

In fact, our first-ever charter as Kalos Tours, an archaeological tour of Greece, was aboard the original Sea Cloud, and our first-ever golf tour, in 1997 along the Danube, was aboard the original River Cloud, a ship owned at that time by Sea Cloud Cruises. In addition to a dedication to European-style, five-star service, there was a classic and comfortable feeling aboard both. Sea Cloud, built as a private yacht by E.F. Hutton and his wife, Marjorie Merriweather Post, set the standard as a timeless and elegant sailing vessel.

Kalos guests relished the private club intimacy and service aboard Sea Cloud, and when Sea Cloud II was launched, with larger, more uniform cabins and the familiar configuration and standards of an exclusive hotel, we expanded our close relationship with Sea Cloud Cruises.

SUN-SOAKED BEACHES, SPARKLING marinas and glamorous people are just some of the charms of the French Riviera that unfold before us as we visit Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo and St-Tropez. Golfers will play some of the region’s most notable courses, including the Monte Carlo Golf Club, while touring passengers enjoy quaint St-Paul-de-Vence and splendid Monaco.

As we journey through the Riviera, don’t be surprised by the attention we get as our sailing yacht makes port in the impressive fortress-like harbor of Bonifacio and, just eight miles to the south, the beautiful natural environment of Costa Smeralda. Memorable golf awaits on Corsica at Golf de Sperone and on Sardinia at Pevero Golf Club.

This is our inaugural season aboard Sea Cloud Spirit; privately chartered for this journey, she is our exclusive club at sea, offering f ive-star European service and accommodations, and the intimate feel of sailing aboard our own private yacht. In 1994, we introduced the golf cruise, a new concept in travel. Chartering boutique ships, we began hosting a select number of country club members aboard what became our own private club afloat, escorting guests comfortably and stylishly to the top courses and touring destinations in Europe. These small groups of travelers appreciated the exceptional personalized service, unique and comfortable accommodations we offered, and enjoyed the camaraderie of old and new friends along the way.

Since our founding, we have continuously enhanced our service and expanded our selection of uniquely designed itineraries to the finest golf and touring destinations around the world by land and ship, by private jet and chartered aircraft. In the process, we’ve created enduring relationships and special memories with our loyal clients.

Kalos Golf itineraries combine the best of global golf and touring with five-star service, whether by sea, air or land. Depart your home city on September 14 for an overnight flight to Nice, France. After your plane clears the last of the snow-capped Alps, look for the sun to reflect off the crystal blue waters of the Côte d’Azur. Welcome to the Riviera! You are greeted at the airport and transported to the five-star Hotel Majestic in Cannes. The afternoon is at your leisure until our welcome reception this evening.. . . . . . .SEpTEmbER 16: CANNES

Golf: Terre Blanche—le riou

Terre Blanche sets the scene perfectly for our golf adventure ahead, boasting breathtaking views of rolling hills dotted with distant pastel rooftops of nearby quaint villages. The plunging fairways of Le Riou course at Terre Blanche lead to perfectly bunkered greens. This parkland members course is an ideal introduction to golf in the Riviera.

Tour: nice and Grasse

Touring passengers visit Nice, then visit Grasse, world capital of the perfume industry. After a full day of golf or touring, you will have the evening free to sample the culinary specialties of the French Riviera. . . . . . . .SEpTEmbER 17: CANNES

Golf: Golf de cannes MouGins

Designed by Harry Colt in 1923, Cannes Mougins is a fixture in the top ten courses in France. Seve Ballesteros once hailed it as “one of the best courses in Europe;” his personal favorite is the ninth hole, a par four with a severe dogleg. The setting and conditioning are superb. This parkland layout features large, gently rolling fairways, dotted with water and surrounded by mature forest and foothills.

Founded in the 5th century as a Greek colony, coastal Antibes is one of the oldest cities on the Côte d’Azur. After strolling through the Old Town, we visit St-Paul-de-Vence, perhaps the most famous of France’s artist villages. St-Paul-de-Vence has a style and charm that is evident in its tile-roofed buildings and tiny, winding streets.

Golf: Golf de Terre Blanche —le châTeau

The course winds its way through pine and oak forests and up to elevated tees where views of French villages and the rocky peaks of the Alpes-Maritimes await. The course presents both technical challenges and charm with holes like number six where the green sits in the shadow of the course’s namesake castle.

Tour: aBBaye de lérins

Touring guests take a short ferry ride to St-Honorat Island, named after the Gallo-Roman Honoratus who visited the island at the end of the 4th century and founded a monastery. The monks that currently reside here have been cultivating vines since the middle ages and every stage, from planting to harvest, is done by hand. We tour the beautiful monastery to get a sense of its place in history. After our tour, we cross the strait to St-Marguerite Island and enjoy lunch overlooking the French coast at La Guerite. We sail along the coast and have time to experience St-Tropez, “The Pearl of the Riviera,” best known as a destination for the glamorous and illustrious. We’ll explore this idyllic town with its narrow, pastel streets and relaxed culture rooted in its heritage as a fishing village and artist’s refuge. Its allure is undeniable, having captured the likes of Matisse and Bardot.

Golf: MonTe carlo Golf cluB Built in 1911, the Monte Carlo Golf Club is considered to be the Côte d’Azur’s most prestigious club. Located 900 meters above sea level on Mont Agel, this course features narrow fairways and a spectacular panorama.

Tour: MonTe carlo and Monaco

Touring passengers explore the exciting city of Monte Carlo. We drive by the Prince’s palace set high on the Rock of Monaco as well as the neo-Romanesque cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier were married. After lunch, there is free time to explore and visit the casino.. . . . . . .SEpTEmbER 21: pORTOvENERE, ITALy

Sure to be a highlight of our Riviera Golf Cruise, Cinque Terre is a favorite among Kalos guests. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is made up of five charming villages that sit suspended on the coastal cliffs of the Italian Riviera. The towns —Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore—are best accessed by boat. Aboard our private craft we will make stops in two of the villages where you can disembark to explore on your own, enjoying shopping, cafés, and soaking up the Italian coast.

Golf: Golf de sPerone

Described by many as Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s “Jewel in the Mediterranean,” Golf de Sperone is well established as one of Europe’s best courses. The 16th hole may be the most memorable. Similar to the 18th at Pebble Beach, this hole is framed by 100-foot sea cliffs on one side.

Tour: Bonifacio Those on tour visit the medieval city of Bonifacio. The town rises dramatically in tiers from the old port up to the Genovese citadel. The fortifications dominate the promontory and the dramatic limestone peninsula that rises on sheer cliffs from the sea.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., Pevero Golf Club’s greens and fairways wind through the Sardinian hills among natural lakes and rock formations. The doglegs and water hazards will test any golfer’s accuracy.

Touring guests are in for a culinary treat today, as we go to the famed Hotel Cala di Volpe for a Sardinian cooking demonstration with the hotel’s renowned chefs. We will learn the ideal combination of today’s catch and regional specialties to craft a Mediterranean-style meal, then savor a gourmet lunch. . . . . . . .SEpTEmbER 25: ROmE, ITALy • HOmE

We bid farewell to Sea Cloud Spirit in the port city of Civitavecchia and begin transfers for home-bound flights. Many travelers may wish to extend their stay in Rome, or join us on a short flight to Milan, where the extension tour stays at Villa d’Este on Lake Como, one of Europe’s finest resorts.

This three-day tour takes us to Lake Como, Italy’s premier resort location. Accommodations are at Villa d’Este, once a 16th century private estate. Golfers play Villa d’Este Golf Club, considered to be one of Italy’s best courses. Designed by English architect Peter Gannon, this course has hosted twelve Italian Opens. Enjoy a private lake cruise where we leisurely tour the mansions, gardens, and charming villages—including Bellagio—that lie on Lake Como’s shores. The range of activities at Villa d’Este, including tennis, canoeing, sailboating and world-class spa services, are sure to be the ideal close to our journey.

Tour price is $2,570 per person, double occupancy in a Deluxe Room ($3,532 per person for Junior Suite). The price includes three nights at Villa d’Este, breakfasts, lake cruise, one round of golf, and airport transfers on standard arrival and departure dates. Airfare from Rome to Milan is not included but will be arranged by Kalos Golf.

We are thrilled to have Life Master Andy Avery on board to host bridge lessons and tournaments throughout our journey. Andy played in his first national championship in 1974, and over the years has earned numerous victories in sectional and regional tournaments including multiple top ten finishes in national championships. Passionate about helping others improve their game, he has been teaching bridge almost full time for the past 15 years.

All skill levels are invited to learn and play—come with your preferred partner, or we will arrange partnerships. We are confident that the competition and interaction will be lively, and most importantly, fun.
