Today, the Iberian Peninsula has established itself as Continental Europe’s golf capital. Our journey begins in the cosmopolitan city of Barcelona, where art, architecture and culinary delights come together to paint an ideal mosaic.

recognized as one of Spain’s top fi ve courses, Pga catalunya’s undulating land, dense with mature trees, is set dramatically against the Pyrenées mountains. the surroundings are quite different from the courses we will play in southern Spain. Pga catalunya is always a favorite among Kalos golfers and is an ideal fi rst round on our journey.

TOUR: MONTSERRAT

this morning, touring guests travel to montserrat, a rugged mountain on the outskirts of Barcelona, where we will visit one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Spain, Santa maria de montserrat abbey. We will see the statue dedicated to catalonia’s favored saint, the Black madonna, and tour the expansive and ornate Benedictine abbey, highlighted by a performance by the montserrat Boys’ choir.. . . . . . .OCTOBER 7: BARCELONA • EMBARK CRYSTAL SERENITY

Barcelona offers a cosmopolitan fl avor and some of the best known architecture in europe. all guests enjoy a panoramic overview of the city with visits to some of its most notable sites, including the Park güell, Passeig de gracia and gaudí’s famed Sagrada família. this afternoon, we board Crystal Serenity.. . . . . . .OCTOBER 8: VALENCIA, SPAIN

for the traditionalist, el Saler is Spain’s best course, and is considered Javier arana’s greatest work. Half the holes work their way through lush pine forests and the rest is true open links land, blending in with mountainous dunes close to the sea.

TOUR: VALENCIA

today’s tour begins with a panoramic exploration of this lively city’s cultural and historic treasures. We stop to visit the uneSco World Heritage Site la lonja de la Seda, a masterpiece of gothic architecture, and the valencia cathedral, which holds an agate cup claimed to be the Holy grail. We will also see the modern architectural marvels of valencia’s city of arts and Science.

the romans, greeks and moors have each ruled alicante through history, and the touring options today are illustrative of the area’s multi-cultural past and present. all guests have the opportunity to explore today, with multiple available choices; from moorish castles, to a mediterranean culinary walk, an art nouveau architectural tour and wine tasting. there is a little something for everyone in this bustling seaside town. . . . . . . .OCTOBER 10: MÁLAGA, SPAIN

opened in 2006 and already a three-time host course for the volvo match Play championship, this open country course has quickly gained a foothold near the top of Spanish golf rankings. the dramatic elevation changes will keep you on your toes as you weave through scenic valleys with fantastic views of the surrounding hills and countryside. Dotted with water hazards, waste areas and well-placed bunkers throughout, finca cortesin presents an enjoyable challenge in a beautiful landscape.

take a look behind the scenes at Spanish country life. this classical village with a strong andalusian fl avor offers wonderful views of the coast. on a clear day, you can see gibraltar. cobblestone streets and charming, whitewashed houses are the classic sights of this picture-postcard Spanish village. of special interest is the completely unique square bullring dating from moorish times, and a charming chapel dedicated to our lady of the rocks, hewn out of the hillside.. . . . . . .OCTOBER 11: GIBRALTAR, UNITED KINGDOM

GOLF: REAL CLUB VALDERRAMA

regarded as the “augusta national of europe,” real club valderrama is consistently ranked in the top fi ve courses in europe and among the world’s top 100. an abundance of venerable cork, oak and olive trees give each of valderrama’s holes a distinct shape and look. the playing conditions are impeccable and the setting is bucolic. Site of the 1997 ryder cup, valderrama provides a historic golf location as well.

TOUR: GIBRALTAR today, we have the opportunity to visit one of the most famous geological silhouettes in the world, gibraltar. the view from “the rock” provides a spectacular panorama of north africa, the costa del Sol and the mediterranean Sea. touring passengers will also delight in a special visit to St. michael’s cave and the nature reserve to see gibraltar’s most famous inhabitants, the Barbary apes.

from the port of cádiz, our tour heads to Seville. We visit la giralda, a moorish tower with a christian super-structure; the alcázar, a moorish palace rich in medieval legends; and Seville cathedral, third largest cathedral in the world and fi nal resting place of christopher columbus. We also enjoy lunch in the old Quarter amid the city’s winding streets.. . . . . . .OCTOBER 13: LISBON, PORTUGAL

today, we enjoy this robert trent Jones, Jr. designed championship course. the dramatic terrain with rock formations will remind many of arizona, but the stone aqueduct and distant church spires confi rm that we are golfi ng in europe. History is evident at every turn.

TOUR: SINTRA & CASCAIS

Sintra was a favorite summer retreat for the kings of Portugal. We will visit the national Palace of Queluz in Sintra before continuing to cascais. this sheltered town sits by the atlantic ocean and became a fashionable resort in the 1870’s when luís i converted the citadel into a summer palace that is still being used by the president of Portugal today. enjoy some free time for lunch, shopping and exploration.

We bid farewell to Crystal Serenity and her crew as we disembark and transfer to the four Seasons Hotel ritz lisbon, where we will stay for two nights. today, we enjoy a panoramic journey through lisbon, through the alfama and castelo Quarters overlooking the tagus river, then tour downtown lisbon, the magnifi cent comércio Square and the charms of the São Bento and chiado districts. We continue to rossio Square, considered the heart of lisbon’s downtown and view the statue of Pombal, who rebuilt the city after the earthquake of 1755, and liberty avenue — lisbon’s answer to Piccadilly.. . . . . . .OCTOBER 15: LISBON

golfers play this arthur Hills design, which regularly ranks as Portugal’s top course, is ranked in the top 100 courses in the world, and annually hosts the Portuguese open. the course is intended to maximize exposure to three distinct landscapes: an umbrella pine tree forest, dunesland and open coastal transition areas. views of the atlantic ocean and nearby Sintra are visible from most holes. oitavos is sure to be a wonderful closing round.

TOUR: MARKET TOUR AND COOKING CLASS

touring guests experience the food and wine of lisbon and Portugal. We begin our day with a visit to the market to purchase just the right ingredients for our culinary creation. expert chefs help us learn to make a traditional Portuguese lunch, which we enjoy with local wine pairings.. . . . . . .OCTOBER 16: LISBON • HOME

We leave beautiful lisbon today and transfer to the lisbon airport for fl ights home.
