13 November 2015 Good morning. We are at the end of another week which has flown by. In fact last night when Surrey Youth Brass Ensemble were rehearsing, I was reminded how near Christmas is geng. It was good to see so many of you aending the parents meengs this week. I know that 10 minutes just never seems enough. If you need to discuss anything further with your child's teacher, please do stop by the office and make an addional appointment. We also offer addional appointments next week for all children who are on the SEN regis- ter. You will have been contacted directly if this involves you. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to aend an audience with Nick Gibb, Minister for Ed- ucaon, Peter Launer, Chair of the Educaon Funding Agency and Frank Green, Schools Commissioner. Whilst the message received from these Government departments was reassuring in one sense - that they reaffirmed what I thought the steer on educaon poli- cy was - it was also very concerning to hear about the huge budget cuts we will connue to face. In essence, the message was that all schools will become Academies and will be working in partnership with each other under what are known as MATs (Mul Academy Trusts). All schools who are deemed to be failing or coasng will be forced to work in MATs which will be led by successful schools. Our school will connue to think strategi- cally and make choices for the benefit of our school community. The current polical climate surrounding the funding for maintained schools was described as the 'perfect storm' We have, over the last three years, seen dramacally declining budgets and the school has connued to source sustainable funding. However we were told yesterday to expect a 10% cut next year, and this is against a back drop of rising pension costs and NI contribuons set to rise in April. In real terms, for us, this will be a shorall of almost £200,000. The cut in funding is the nudge for schools to work together to gain from economies of scale by working in formal partnership. The model promoted was that of a strong leader running more than one school on a permanent basis. Against all this doom and gloom, I am really thrilled to report that the school received its Inspecon Dashboard from Ofsted. This reports the school as having 11 idenfied strengths and no idenfied weaknesses. Performance and data are suggesng that the school remains outstanding. Next week we are welcoming a number of SCITT (school centred inial teacher training) students and potenal candidates who are hoping to come into the teaching profession. The students will be observing in classes, gaining an insight into how schools work and the expectaons of teachers. We shall also be holding our meengs for new parents who are applying for places in September 2016. Wishing you all a good weekend. Kathryn Krynicki Headteacher School Newsletter

Good morning.

We are at the end of another week which has flown by. In fact last night when Surrey Youth Brass Ensemble were rehearsing, I was reminded how near Christmas is getting. It was good to see so many of you attending the parents meetings this week. I know that 10 minutes just never seems enough. If you need to discuss anything further with your child's teacher, please do stop by the office and make an additional appointment. We also offer additional appointments next week for all children who are on the SEN regis-ter. You will have been contacted directly if this involves you. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to attend an audience with Nick Gibb, Minister for Ed-ucation, Peter Launer, Chair of the Education Funding Agency and Frank Green, Schools Commissioner. Whilst the message received from these Government departments was reassuring in one sense - that they reaffirmed what I thought the steer on education poli-cy was - it was also very concerning to hear about the huge budget cuts we will continue to face. In essence, the message was that all schools will become Academies and will be working in partnership with each other under what are known as MATs (Multi Academy Trusts). All schools who are deemed to be failing or coasting will be forced to work in MATs which will be led by successful schools. Our school will continue to think strategi-cally and make choices for the benefit of our school community. The current political climate surrounding the funding for maintained schools was described as the 'perfect storm' We have, over the last three years, seen dramatically declining budgets and the school has continued to source sustainable funding. However we were told yesterday to expect a 10% cut next year, and this is against a back drop of rising pension costs and NI contributions set to rise in April. In real terms, for us, this will be a shortfall of almost £200,000. The cut in funding is the nudge for schools to work together to gain from economies of scale by working in formal partnership. The model promoted was that of a strong leader running more than one school on a permanent basis. Against all this doom and gloom, I am really thrilled to report that the school received its Inspection Dashboard from Ofsted. This reports the school as having 11 identified strengths and no identified weaknesses. Performance and data are suggesting that the school remains outstanding.

Next week we are welcoming a number of SCITT (school centred initial teacher training)students and potential candidates who are hoping to come into the teaching profession. The students will be observing in classes, gaining an insight into how schools work and the expectations of teachers. We shall also be holding our meetings for new parents who are applying for places in September 2016.

Wishing you all a good weekend.

CONSULTATION ON ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMMUNITY AND VOLUNTARY CONTROLLED SCHOOLS FOR 2017

Surrey County Council is consulting on:

the admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools for September 2017 proposed changes to admission arrangements for some community and voluntary controlled schools for September 2017

a proposed change to Surrey's coordinated scheme for primary admissions

Full details of the consultation and the changes being proposed are available at Surrey Says (www.surreysays.co.uk).

What are the proposed changes?

The changes being proposed are as follows:

1. Beacon Hill Primary School – introduction of admission criteria for entry at Year 3

2. Chennestone Primary School – introduction of a feeder link from Beauclerc Infant School for entry at Year 3

3. Cranleigh CofE Primary - reintroduction of admission criteria for entry at Year 3

4. West Ewell Infant School - decrease in Reception intake from 90 to 60

5. Change to the date from which parents can apply for a primary school place – proposal to change the date from which appli-

cants can apply for a primary school place (Reception and Year 3) so that they will be invited to submit their applications from 31

October 2016 rather than 1 September 2016

How can I respond to the consultation?

The consultation on the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools and these proposed changes

will run from Monday 2 November 2015 to Monday 14 December 2015. If you would like to take part please complete an online

response form at Surrey Says (www.surreysays.co.uk). Alternatively if you would prefer to respond on a paper form, please tele-

are fully completed with the respondent’s name and address will be accepted.

What happens next?

After the closing date, responses will be collated and presented to the County Council's decision making Cabinet on 2 February

2016. It will decide whether or not to proceed with the proposed changes as well as determining the admission arrangements

for all community and voluntary controlled schools for which no changes are proposed. Cabinet’s decision will then need to be

ratified by the full County Council on 9 February 2016. Once determined the final admission arrangements for all community and

voluntary controlled schools will be placed on Surrey's website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions.
