Principal’s News Students of the Month This Friday on Parade, we will acknowledge the great work of our students with our Student of the Month Awards. It would be great to see as many parents as possible at
parade to help us celebrate the achievements of our students.
New Building Update
We are very close to being able to use our new admin building. At the moment we are only waiting for the ‘Activewear’, this means the internet, network and phone systems to be finished. We will be gradually moving items into the new building in anticipation of the Activewear being installed as soon as possible.
The refurbishment of A block will continue once we are
able to use the new Admin Block for all our office
requirements. A fenced area has been erected outside
the old Admin Block to store equipment while the
refurbishment takes place.
Chess Tournament Thursday
Next Thursday the 12th of March four teams of students
will be representing One Mile SS at the Wide Bay South
Chess Tournament being held at Maryborough. This will
be the first opportunity I’ve had to see the students
compete and I am very much looking forward to
watching the range of students from grade 1 through 6
compete. Thank you Mr Hinkley for organising the
students and running chess club each week.
Attendance
Unfortunately No Year levels achieved our attendance
target of 95% last week. Remember Every day counts
here at One Mile State School

Positive Behaviour for
Learning (PBL)
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Last week we had the Regional Coordinator for PBL and
our External Coach visit to talk to students, parents and
staff about our PBL processes. This is one of the
measures in place to check our implementation and
identify areas where further work is required.
Our Expectation continues to be from ‘Learner’ and as
we head into assessment is focussing on I produce my
best work.
Religious Instruction
Religious Instruction will commence for Year 4 & 6 next
week on Thursday afternoons. Students are identified
as participating or not according to the Enrolment
agreement you completed or any subsequent update.
Please let the office know if you wish to change your
option.

School News 5th March 2020
$1000.00. Wow! This came from the Pink Stumps Day
free dress donations and the profits from the fairy floss
sales. Great job everyone!
Even though there was no cricket on the day due to rain,
Mr Hinkley assured us all that the Cricket Australia rules
say if there is a cancellation, the reigning team is the
winner. So well done staff!!!
Thanks to the awesome fairy floss makers: Mrs Dodt,
Ms Morley, Mrs Tierney, Mrs Sauer, Mrs Cantle, Maddy
Morley, Nic Morley, Mal Dodt and Montanna Dodt.
Thank you to a super school community for their
wonderful generosity. We have made a big difference!

Bushfire Appeal
Last Friday at parade we celebrated One Mile State
School’s awesome support for the Rotary International
Bushfire Appeal. Our school presented a cheque to Dr
George Springall (President of Gympie Cooloola Rotary
Club) and Robin Yule (Youth Ambassador Gympie
Cooloola Rotary Club) for $1391.60. Wow! This came
from the Bushfire Relief free dress donations and the
profits from the sausage sizzle. Thank you to the OMSS
P & C for donating the sausages. This donation went a
long way in raising the final total that was donated.
Thanks to the awesome Mr Derrick. He cooked 354
sausages on the day. At parade
last Friday we made him the
OMSS BBQ KING!!! He was
presented with a crown and a
trophy for his efforts.
Thank you to a super school

P E News 12 Minute Run Interschool Sport is taking up a large
amount of time for the year 5 & 6
classes. As such, it has been decided
that there will be no time in class time
for these students to run the 12
minute run while interschool sport is
on. If your child is in year 5 or 6 it would be great if they
could make at least one of our morning runs at 8.15am.
Students are encouraged to jog/walk/run at their own
pace and attempt sustained running. This will improve
their health and prepare them for the cross-country.
Some notable performances are Isaac in prep running
4 laps (2km) and Gemma in year 6 running 6 laps (3km).
Please support your child by getting them to school for
one of these runs each week if possible. DO NOT
FORGET the permission note for leaving the school
grounds for training and cross-country day are due this
by the end of this week (my apology for the incorrect
date on the form).
Swimming
Next week is the last week for all swimming! This
includes HPE class swimming as well as before,
afternoon and lunch time swimming (there will be a
make up extra lesson for Monday and Thursday after
school swimmers as they missed a lesson. This will
occur in the afternoon, Monday 16-03 and Thursday 19-
03.
