clear the roles and expectations for the year
• At the beginning of September all trainees on all
routes have a residential outdoor learning and team
building experience at Kilve Court
• After this each SD hub will arrange to induct its own
trainees
• There is also a central session on professionalism
and ITE Code of Conduct
The SD centrally-taught

Learning By Doing
• Throughout the year, trainees have the
opportunity to deepen and develop their
pedagogy through practical, hands-on learning
• In a short year, with only six weeks out the class
for the centrally-taught programme, it is essential
that schools are able to meet all the trainees’
development needs

Passionate about teaching
We are passionate about teaching and learning
• We offer our trainees a chance to learn from outstanding and experienced practitioners – in the classroom and on training days.
• Innovative practice, drawing upon the best practice in our schools e.g. Learning Without Limits, Narrowing/Understanding the Gap.
• The training days are varied – some take place in schools, some are conference days (PGCE and SD trainees together)
• All of our trainees undertake a PGCE
Resources
• Our VLE
• Resources for Learning
• Up to date equipment to borrow – ipads, data
loggers, puppets
Why become a SD hub?
• Grow your own
• CPD opportunity for middle leaders
• Injection of fresh ideas
• Opportunity to reflect on practice and develop pedagogy – e.g. PGCE assessment research
• If able to swop with another school for the middle placement - £2,000 per trainees per year.
• Opportunity to release teachers to focus on school development (particularly in the summer term)
• Demonstrate commitment to the future of the profession.
