VOCATION CORNER – “Discovering your vocation does not
mean scrambling toward some prize just beyond your
reach. Instead it means simply accepting the treasure of
your true self that you already possess. Vocation does
not come from a voice out there calling you to be
something you are not. It comes from a voice inside you
calling you to be the best person you are born to
be.” Thomas Merton

REVERSE RAFFLE MEETING: NOVEMBER 20TH IN THE PARISH
CENTER CAFETERIA. 7PM. Would love any and all help! Hello,
Kudos to Ryan Michael and Jessica Marie (nee Diekemper) Wiegmann on their marriage at St. Mary this Saturday, November, 9, 2019. May they be a powerful sign of God’s love to each other, and as a couple, to all whom they encounter in life.
Likewise, we extend our sympathy to the families of Shirley Links, Lorraine Bruggemann, and Jean Martin whose funerals were last week. Let us hold their memory dear. Thanks to all who planned and helped with the All Souls Day liturgy last Saturday. It was great!
More thanks to the crew that worked on filling the old coal bin at the northwest corner or the church building as well, and thanks to our Knights of Columbus for the new garage doors (after they removed and dismantled the old ones).
“God is not the God of the dead but of the living.” (Luke 20: 38)
“Resurrection is the promise and hope of our faith as Christians – but resurrection is also an attitude, a perspective for approaching life and sorting out the decisions, and complexities of our lives. In dying to our own worst impulses, disappointments, and the sometimes overwhelming sense of hopelessness, we can rise to the heights of the life and love of God.
What the Sadducees do not understand is that God is not about endings, but beginnings: God always calls us to start again, to put aside old behaviors and wants and embrace all that is good and affirming…..that the struggles we encounter in this life are but a prelude to the fullness of joy in the next. To become “sons and daughters of the resurrection” is to live with the conviction that the love of God transcends all of our despair and disappointments and will one day bring us to the fulfillment of the Easter miracle.
Let us live the miracle! Peace & good, Fr. George

Christmas Choir Notice - All who are interested are invited to
sing in the Christmas choir. The choir sings at Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, and I'd love to have enough people to sing at 9 am Christmas Day Mass as well. The songs will all be traditional, familiar hymns from our song book. There are 4 rehearsals, but you do not have to attend all 4. Even if you can only make one, that is okay. The rehearsals are Sundays from 11 am to 11:40 am on December 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. If you have any questions, feel free to text or call Eric at 618-420-4567.
Most Reverend Patrick Pinder, S.T.D, Archbishop of
Nassau wishes to express his most profound gratitude to
everyone who assisted in the recovery effort in the wake of
Hurricane Dorian. The Diocese of Belleville was able to gift
$113,377.13 to the victims of the islands of Abaco and
Grand Bahama. This Catholic presence has been a sign of
hope & comfort for those who remained & the evacuees
who are now slowly returning to that island.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, December 8th for a 25th
year celebration reception for Father George at 11am. Father
requests no gifts please. All are welcome.
