Batch processes areoptimised and production resources put tooptimum use.

The simple operation makes quick trainingpossible and guarantees safe operation. Thisis strongly supported by the availability ofthe majority of European languages, whichcan be changed over during runningoperation. A security system permits variousfunctions to be locked or made accessible toindividual users. Meaningful batch, production and consump-tion reports are produced automatically.Volume statistics can be called up easily inrespect of time, raw material or product.

Product profile The ProBatch+ recipe and production -management system is powerful software for the operation, supervision and control ofbatch applications with X-Family and otherPLC controllers. ProBatch+ offers the userboth efficient management of original rawmaterial and recipe data, based on a data-base, and a clear presentation of the runningprocess, which enable all batch procedures tobe monitored and controlled easily.

Simple applications with just a singleautomatic balance and also larger processautomation tasks with up to 16 productionlines operating in parallel and with up to16 automatic balances can be achieved. Allbalances run in parallel and can be operatedand supervised simultaneously. Thereby theX-Family batch controllers guarantee thehighest precision and reliability in theprocess.

System architecturesIn ProBatch+ raw materials are managed,recipes created and production runs preparedand started. The operator can observe andcontrol the process centrally. Reports aregenerated and stored. The recipe steps(phases) are executed in the batchcontrollers, i.e. the control of the batchvalves and other actors and sensors takesplace there. Since the batch controllersexecute individual phases, or recipe steps,the corresponding X-Family batch controllersare called PHASE controllers, and areavailable in versions PHASE-X4, PHASE-X5and PHASE-X6.

Due to the high flexibility of ProBatch+,various automation concepts can be realised.For this purpose, ProBatch+ can beconnected to the X-Family controllers andother (PLC) controllers in various ways:• Direct connection of the X-Family

controllers serially or via the Ethernet.Recipe steps are pre-programmedfunctions of the X-Family controllers.

• Indirect connection via an PLC. TheX-Family batch controllers are connectedto the PLC via field buses. In this way PLCfunctions can easily be synchronised withthe pre-programmed batch functions ofthe controllers. The locking of all processI/Os takes place in the PLC.

• Recipe steps can be carried out directly onan PLC.

The ProBatch+ recipe lines can also becarried out in three different ways: 1. Directly in the Sartorius batch controller.2. In the Sartorius batch controller,

controlled by the Siemens S7.3. Direct in the PLC, e.g. Siemens S7.

A so-called Proxy Server is provided forsimple connection to the Siemens S7controller. The Proxy Server is a programme,which runs on the Siemens S7 and transmitsparameter- data from ProBatch+ to thebatch controller. The programming work onthe S7 is significantly reduced with the ProxyServer.

Combinations of the three variants are alsopossible: in an installation controllers can becontrolled directly or indirectly and recipesteps can be carried out simultaneously onan PLC. In the same way different X-Familybatch controllers (PHASE - Controllers) canbe connected in one system.

Operators can also start recipes and operatethe connected balance directly on the batchcontroller, in the production field.

Batch managementProBatch+ can manage a large number ofmaterials pertaining to a production line.With only a few operator steps, raw material quantities used and recipe quantitiesproduced can be called up. Automatic stockmonitoring is included. Material trackingwith three freely selectable batch parametersand one data field can be activatedoptionally. In ProBatch+ recipes are createdin the well-known Windows user interface.Batch and special procedure steps, such asmixing, heating, cooling etc. are registered inthe recipes. In addition, recipe steps canexecute powerful script functions forhumidity corrections of specified set points,for synchronisation of process steps or forthe display of user dialogues. The scriptfunctions make it possible to implementrapid adaptations to new processrequirements without the need to carry outexpensive programming in the PLC. Data canbe processed and stored at the recipe level,production line level and installation level. Inaddition, sub-recipes and correction recipes,which can be repeated recurrently tooptimise product quality, are possible.

With ProBatch+ several batches of a recipecan be executed within one production run.Production plans can be produced for each production lineindividually and executed both automaticallyand by user enabling. At any time the userhas a clear overview of the entire productionand can intervene when necessary. Operatingerrors are avoided by means of graphic high-lighting of currently permitted commands.

The current process status is constantlyindicated for each balance and eachproduction line. This includes gross weights,orders, current recipes and components withspecified and actual values, and the status ofthe batch controllers. Alarms and systemmessages are each highlighted in colourand gathered in a separate list window.

At the end of every recipe run ProBatch+generates batch and production reports.Material management makes availablereports on consumption, productionquantities and stock levels. All reports canbe adapted to customer requirements, sincethey are generated using the Crystal ReportGenerator. By means of an integratedsecurity system users with different accessrights can be logged on. This preventsoperator error and avoids unnecessarybatch faults.

The clear and user-friendly operatorinterface is supported by the incorporationas standard of almost every Europeanlanguage (see below). All texts can beadapted to location or installation specificconditions. The languages can be changedduring operation. In this way ProBatch+is applicable globally and is quick to learn. A detailed Help function is integrated andis available in English and German.
