2 Types of users in SAP Supplier InfoNet

SAP Supplier InfoNet presents you with different features depending on what data the system contains about your organization, and whether you are an approved security administrator for your organization.

The SAP Supplier InfoNet User Guide provides information for all of these features.

User type Description Available features

Customers If SAP Supplier InfoNet contains data about suppliers' performance for your organization, then your organization is deemed a customer in SAP Supplier InfoNet.

You can view and analyze performance data for your suppliers, compare it against benchmark results, set up alerts, identify risk across your supplier network, and so on.

Suppliers If SAP Supplier InfoNet contains data about your organization's performance when supplying goods to another organization, then your organization is deemed a supplier in SAP Supplier InfoNet.

You are able to view the data reported about your organization, and benchmark your organization's performance. See Using SAP Supplier InfoNet as a supplier [page 25] for more information.

Security administrators Supplier organizations must have one or more security administrators. To become a security administrator, you must be designated by an SAP Supplier InfoNet site administrator.

You control how your organization shares data about your suppliers with customers. See Managing customer access requests on the Permissions tab [page 26] for more information.

If your organization is deemed both a supplier and a customer in SAP Supplier InfoNet, then you will have access to both sets of features for these users.

3 About SAP Supplier InfoNet

SAP Supplier InfoNet adds reliability and predictability to the procurement process. For customers, the application helps mitigate risk and provide visibility into your supply chain. For suppliers, it allows you to assess your organization's performance for SAP Supplier InfoNet customers compared to other suppliers, and to proactively address performance degradation. Supplier organizations can also approve or deny requests to access their upstream suppliers.

In either case, SAP Supplier InfoNet users benefit from the following:

Networking

Just as social networking websites allow people to create rich, networked relationships among members of a social group, SAP Supplier InfoNet allows customers to view supplier data in a cooperative and controlled environment. A customer can be instantly alerted to important events like changes in leadership, plant closures, layoffs, or new contract awards. SAP Supplier InfoNet allows customers to control the reliability and efficiency of the supply-base by providing visibility into significant events affecting suppliers across multiple tiers.

3.1 The SAP Supplier InfoNet interface

The SAP Supplier InfoNet application has the following main user interface areas.

Alerts tab

SAP Supplier InfoNet monitors news sources, the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS), and other third-party content. Based on your settings, the application uses this information to generate alerts about suppliers that you are following. Alerts are displayed on the Alerts tab, and you can expand an alert to view more detail about it.

Suppliers tab

The Suppliers tab lists suppliers in a table that you can sort and filter. On this tab, you can choose the suppliers that you want to follow. You receive alerts only for suppliers that you are following. This tab provides access to detailed information for individual suppliers on the Supplier profile page, and to a supply base visualization feature.

This page is available only for users from supplier organizations in SAP Supplier InfoNet. See Using SAP Supplier InfoNet as a supplier [page 25] for more information.

Network tab

The Network tab provides a list of your company's suppliers and allows you to explore supplier relationships across multiple tiers. Here, you can also see how many alerts are open for each supplier, and request access to anonymous upstream suppliers.

Alerts tab

Page 13: SAP Supplier InfoNet User Guide - SAP Help Portal · PDF fileEvent Type Descriptions ... 9 My Company Profile page ... The SAP Supplier InfoNet User Guide provides instructions for

For debarment alerts, you'll also see a link to the US government's Excluded Parties List System (https://www.epls.gov ).

The list of links in a scenario is updated on a rolling seven-day schedule, so that additional new stories about the event will be added to the list if they appear within seven days after the most recent previous story. If more than seven days go by and a new article appears, it will be added to a new alert scenario, with a new list of links.

For any alert scenario, you can click Open Supplier Details as of <date> for more information about the affected supplier in the Supplier profile page.

You may wish to report the link to one or more of the stories associated with an alert scenario if, for example, the link is broken, inaccurate, or inappropriate. To do so, choose the Report Link button associated with that link. In addition to being reported, the link will be disabled in the news alert details. This feature is available for news alerts on both the Open tab and the Archive tab.

7 Network tab

The Network tab helps you monitor your entire supply chain and identify upstream problems that may affect the performance of your direct suppliers.

On this tab, you can view your direct suppliers in the My Suppliers list.

If one of your suppliers has information for its own suppliers available in SAP Supplier InfoNet, an arrow icon indicates that you can click the supplier to view a list of its suppliers. In this way, you can navigate up your supply chain and explore supplier relationships across multiple tiers.

By default, the names of the upstream suppliers are anonymous for security reasons. You can ask your direct suppliers to provide you with access to their supplier data.

The Network tab also provides information on potential risks in your supply chain. If a supplier has recent events

such as news alerts or a debarment record, the recent events icon ( ) appears next to the supplier's name. If

there are recent upstream events in the company's supply chain, the upstream events icon ( ) appears for the supplier. You can mouse over these icons to view the number of events. With this information, you can identify upstream risks to your supply chain and request further information from direct suppliers, if necessary.

7.2 Requesting access to upstream suppliers

By default, you can view only your direct suppliers in the Network tab. All upstream suppliers are displayed in an anonymous fashion, and you can view only the number of recent events for each anonymous supplier.

Your direct suppliers control whether you can view information about their own direct suppliers. SAP Supplier InfoNet allows you to send a request to your direct suppliers asking them to grant you access to view their suppliers. You can either request access to all of their suppliers' information, or request access to individual upstream suppliers' data.

When you request information about upstream suppliers for one of your direct suppliers, the direct supplier receives an email request, and can review and grant the request. If the direct supplier grants the request, you can view the details of the upstream suppliers that you requested access to. You can also follow upstream suppliers to receive news stories and geo alerts about them.

7.2.1 To request access to anonymous suppliers
