    Sixth Form

Working in partnership with Beaumont and Verulam Schools in the BeauSandVer consortium

  • Whether you are a current student at Sandringham or one of the many external students who choose to join the school in the Sixth Form, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our Sixth Form to you.

    Welcome

You will be part of an extremely exciting, friendly and happy learning community at Sandringham School as one of over 320 intelligent and articulate young adults. It is a time of opportunities and experiences: academic, social and cultural and we aim to help you successfully complete your formal education before moving on to University, further education or work.

The next two years will be some of the best years of your life and, in my view, there is no better place to be than at Sandringham school.

We look forward to welcoming you into the Sixth Form.

Sandringham school is open to all students who meet our entrance criteria. Sixth form students have full access to a wide range of courses through our own curriculum and the long established BeauSandVer post 16 consortium with Beaumont and Verulam schools. We offer you A level courses together with other level 3 applied subjects; this ensures there is almost certainly something to suit you. Most importantly, examination results at Sandringham and across the consortium are outstanding, ensuring that you will have the best preparation for your next steps.

“I am so grateful for all the amazing help and time that the teachers gave us at Sandringham, it was amazing how often they would be willing to sit down and go through things with us, frequently outside of classroom hours. The teachers were so encouraging and just brilliant.”

    Chrissy (Medical undergraduate)

As a sixth form student you will benefit from a wide range of specialist resources, including: dedicated teaching and seminar rooms; PC suites; and two large study areas in the Sixth Form Learning Centre.

    Dedicated Resources

“Sandringham Sixth Form is a fantastic environment which keeps getting bigger and better every year. It not only helped me to decide what I want to do in the future, but it also encouraged and supported me to aim as high as possible with my university applications.”

James Riding Head Boy 2013-14 Currently studying at Magdalen College, Oxford

There is also a Starbucks café for you to use throughout the day. Wherever you are in the school you will have wireless access so that you can bring your own devices to support your studies.

We also have a team of experienced specialist subject and tutorial staff who will support you to become responsible, independent learners. A structured programme of tutorials and progress monitoring will engage you in fulfilling your potential in your chosen specialist areas.

Sixth Formers play a unique and valuable role in the school, contributing actively to the wider life of the school community. You may help arrange and run events with younger students, demonstrating high level leadership skills particularly through the House System.

The Head Girl, Head Boy, Senior Prefects and various House and Sports Captains as well as Sandringham Associates play a particularly key role in school life and competition is fierce for these positions of responsibility.

We encourage all sixth form students to participate in enrichment activities that develop personal skills. There is a very robust Careers education and guidance programme which helps you prepare for Higher Education and the workplace. The vast majority of our students move onto University education and we strongly support them to apply to the best universities in the country.

The Sixth Form is a pre-University style culture with extremely high expectations and challenges, but equally high rewards at the end. It probably constitutes the best days of school at Sandringham for many students.
