With Placer County’s present-day tier level we no longer are required to check temperatures or have you sign in for contact tracing. We will continue to practice cur-rent safety procedures including social distancing, face coverings, and sanitization. In a letter to the faithful, dated June 1, 2021, Bishop Jaime Soto has rescinded the general dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. Beginning “June 20, 2021 all the Catholic faithful in the Diocese of Sacramento are obliged to personally attend and actively participate in the Sunday celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass (Cannon 1247).” “...individuals are not obligated to attend the Eucharist on Sunday or other obligatory solemnities if they are sick, have a vulnerable health condition, are caring for someone with a vulnera-ble health condition, or other serious reasons (Canon 1245; Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2181).” We have been given permission to return to 100% seat-ing capacity inside the church. The chains in between each pew will be removed and we are asked to continue observing “sensible public health precautions.”

Please refrain from physical contact with others out-side of one’s household.

June is the Month of the Sacred Heart, in recognition of Jesus’ apparitions starting in 1673 to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690), a member of the Visita-tion Sisters, through whom He asked for devotion to His Sacred Heart. Christ told St. Margaret that He wanted to reveal His wounded Heart because He could not abide watching as countless people turned away from Him. He wanted all to experience His love, mercy, and grace, and to attain salvation. In contrast, devotion to the Sacred Heart emphasizes the vastness of God’s concern and love for struggling humanity. It serves as a reminder to the sinful and hurting people to trust in His Heart, which so tenderly loves each of us. In the Image of the Sacred Heart, Jesus shows His burning love for us and His desire that we return that love. It is from Jesus' Sacred Heart that blood and water flow - the cleansing water of Baptism and the precious blood of the Eucharist. May we, who are loved by God who is love, receive every grace that he offers us our own salvation and the salvation of the world.

Junio es el Mes del Sagrado Corazón, en reconocimiento a las apariciones de Jesús que comenzaron en 1673 a Santa Margarita María Alacoque (1647-1690), miembro de las Hermanas de la Visitación, a través de las cuales pidió devoción a Su Sagrado Corazón. Cristo le dijo a Santa Margarita que quería revelar Su Corazón herido porque no podía soportar ver cómo innumerables per-sonas se alejaban de Él. Quería que todos experimenta-ran su amor, misericordia y gracia, y alcanzaran la salvación.

En contraste, la devoción al Sagrado Corazón enfatiza la inmensidad de la preocupación y el amor de Dios por la humanidad en lucha.
