Safe handling advice Keep container tightly closed. Ensure the area is well ventilated.

Keep away from sources of ignition --- No smoking. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. In the event of fire, cool the endangered containers with water. When heated above the flash point and/or during spraying (atomizing), ignitible mixtures may form in air. Use explosion-proof equipment only.

Requirements for storage areas and containers

Keep only in the original container at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Protect from light. Fill the container by approximately 90 % only as oxygen (air) is required for stabilisation. With large storage containers make sure the oxygen (air) supply is sufficient to ensure stability. Can polymerize with intense heat release.

Exposure assessment

For each level of control measure (indoor, outdoor, engineering control and contained) three categories of protection (no personal protection equipment - No PPE, Gloves - Respiratory protection equipment and Gloves - RPE + Gloves) exist. All applications with a defined level of protection and containment are summarised in one specific GES (generic exposure szenario). Within this specific GES for all applications the boundary conditions regarding time and concentration are to be defined and can vary from substance to substance, due to the level of estimated exposure and the individual DNEL/PNEC of a substance. For example, if an application fails the assessment in GES10 (indoor) with low level of control and without using protection equipment, safe use can be achieved by increasing level of control (local exhaust ventilation LEV, GES4) or level of protection (RPE and gloves, GES12). The matrix of identification of generic exposure scenarios by definition of control measure and level of protective equipment is given in table I. The matrix of the exposure scenarios should be applicable for all methacrylates.
