Friday. Further, all persons 18 years of age and older, up

while the other two meals on those days are to be light.

Gospel Summary Although most scholars believe that this story of the woman caught in adultery was not part of John’s original writings, it is nevertheless an excellent example of Jesus’ style. First of all, some of the religious leaders tried to trick Jesus into going against the law of Moses by not having the woman stoned or going against the Roman law that did not allow the Jewish people to impose the death sentence. Again, Jesus seemed trapped, but drew in the sand with his finger until he presented his answer. In an effort to demonstrate the forgiveness God had for his people, Jesus challenged the Pharisees to throw a stone if they were without sin. Of course, none could throw a stone and slowly the crowed drifted away. When only the woman remained, Jesus showed mercy toward her and told her to resist further sin.

Sacred Heart Memorial Fund The Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund is a wonderful way to remember a loved one who has passed away. Within a one year period a total contribution of $500.00 is donated to Sacred Heart Parish. One method is by asking relatives and friends (example: in lieu of flowers) to please make contributions to the Sacred Heart Memorial Fund in memory of the departed. When your $500.00 is met the deceased will have their name engraved on our Memorial Fund Plaques (which are displayed in the vestibule of the church.) Every fourth Sunday of the month at the 11:00 AM Mass and also a yearly Mass and reception on All Souls Day will be offered at Sacred Heart Church for those honored by the Memorial Fund. Holy Week Reminders

Holy Thursday ~ Washing of the Feet Would you like to open your heart to the gift we will ritualize on Holy Thursday? If you would like to have your feet washed on Holy Thursday, please contact Father Mike for Sacred Heart or Dave Chominski for St. Hedwig’s. Father Mike and Father Bielecki will wash the feet of BOTH men and women during this service held at both worship sites.

Collection For The Holy Land on Good Friday PLEASE support our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land by giving to this special collection on Good Friday. The pon-tifical collection allows for care of Christianity’s holiest sites and for God’s people living in the Holy Land.

Blessing Of The Food On Holy Saturday Please join both worship sites on Holy Saturday for this spe-cial blessing. In Poland the blessing of Easter foods was an important tradition. This blessing is still found in the updated Roman Ritual, and is a wonderful practice. Many parishes still participate in this custom of the blessing of the Easter food or baskets.

Holy Year of Mercy Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, Send your Spirit and consecrate

every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a

year of grace from the Lord, and your Church.

With renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to

the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight

to the blind.

We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy,

you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

Important Notice Regarding Our Parish The pastor and three members of each parish comprise the Area Pastoral Planning Committee. This committee has met to discuss the options for parish restructuring that were presented by the Archdiocesan Strategic Planning Committee. These models of collaboration are merger (by which two parishes are completely combined into one parish) and partnership (by which the pastoral leadership and administration of the parishes are combined, but they otherwise remain separate parishes). The members of the Committee believe that a parish partnership would be the best option for Sacred Heart Parish and Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. In this Parish Partnership, Sacred Heart Parish and Saint Charles Borromeo Parish are connected in almost all areas of administration and in many pastoral areas the same time they remain canonically and financially independent entities. Parish Partnerships help address our immediate need to make better use of the limited number of priests we have available to serve as pastors. Parish Partnerships also allow parishes to combine efforts to do the work of the Church more efficiently and effectively. The members of the Area Pastoral Planning Committee will consult with the Parish Finance Council and the Parish Pastoral Council of each parish about this recommendation for a parish partnership. If you have any concerns about this recommendation, please speak with Fr. Mike. He attends the meetings and knows what has been discussed.
