The Heart of a Shepherd Virtually every priest diocesan priest serving in the diocese of Cleveland has received formation in one or both of the Cleveland diocesan seminaries. Cleveland is one of only thirty dioceses in the United States who have their own free-standing seminary system. The presbyterate of Cleveland is noted for the special bond that exists among the priests precisely because they have spent years in formation together, formed together to become shepherds of our faith. This is a great blessing. The Seminary buildings are in dire need of renovation in order to remain suitable for the mission of forming priests for ministry. Within the past couple of years, the diocese began a capital campaign called, The Heart of a Shepherd, for major renovations in the college and graduate level seminaries. There were several options for parishes to participate in the campaign. Sacred Heart has decided to tithe from our annual collections over a period of three years, 5% per year, totaling 15% of our annual collection income. This will be a total participation of $60,000 for the project. We chose to do this rather than ask for pledges. Please pray for the seminary renovation project as you also pray for our parish and our ministries. Our participation is an investment in those future priests who will be in formation and may even end up serving here. Please pray that some of our own young men will respond to the call and enjoy the new renovations as they prepare to serve the Church in the priesthood.

El Corazón de un Pastor (The Heart of a Shepherd)

Prácticamente todos los sacerdotes diocesanos que sirven en la diócesis de Cleveland han recibido formación en uno o ambos seminarios diocesanos de Cleveland.

Cleveland es una de las treinta diócesis de los Estados Unidos que tienen su propio sistema de seminario independiente. Gospel: John 6: 41-51

Reflexión Personal:

In this reading, what word or phrase stands out? Why? Are you attracted to something in the reading? Why?

Do you feel any resistance? Why?

Commentary:

Jesus after the multiplication of the loaves, speaks of Himself as the bread of life... It is bread that like the manna that came down from heaven, comes from God;

but, unlike it, this bread not only feeds the body, but gives eternal life: “whoever eats this bread will live forever…”

It is a bread that brings salvation to the world, and when it is broken and shared, it generates fruits of love, justice, solidarity, fraternity: "... the bread that I will give

is my flesh for the life of the world.”... The Gospel for this Sunday makes us reflect upon the

Eucharist, which is communion with Jesus made flesh, with his person, his word and his work; it is a memorial of the death and resurrection of Jesus; sacrament of our

faith; symbol of our communion with one another.

En esta lectura, ¿cuál palabra o frase te sobresale? ¿Por qué?

¿Te sientes atraído/a por algo en la lectura? ¿Por qué?

¿Sientes alguna resistencia? ¿Por qué?

Comentario: Jesús después de la multiplicación de los panes,

habla de si como el pan de la vida… Es un pan que, como el maná ha bajado del cielo, procede de Dios; pero, a

diferencia de aquél, éste no sólo alimenta, sino que da vida eterna: “el que coma de este pan vivirá para siempre”.

Es un pan que trae salvación al mundo, que cuando se parte y se comparte, genera frutos de amor, justicia, solidaridad, fraternidad: “…el pan que yo les voy a dar es

mi carne para que el mundo tenga vida”… El evangelio de este domingo nos hace pensar en la Eucaristía, que es comunión con Jesús hecho carne, con
