Message from the Pastor For us Catholics the Pope is the “Servant of the servants of God”. This title has been used by the bishops of Rome for the past 14 centuries. Because Jesus teaches us that the greatest must make himself the least of all and the servant of all. Pope Francis has reminded us of this in his recent trip to the U.S. and Cuba. The spirit and style of the action of the Church can be synthetized in two words: communion and participation. These words express the idea that no one is alone in the Church and in the world. God calls us to live in community, to form one body, to serve each other. No one is so rich that he needs to receive nothing; no one is so poor as to have nothing to give. Jesus is the Servant par excellence. In order to serve us He became one of us in all things but sin, as the second reading this weekend reminds us. He went through similar problems, He had pity on our weaknesses; that is why we can approach Him in confidence, with the certainty that we will receive the help we need. There is a scene in the gospel that always moves us: Jesus washing His disciples’ feet. The greatest becomes the least. The most important becomes the servant. With this He teaches us that true greatness lies in serving.

Mensaje del Párroco
Para nosotros, los católicos, el Papa es el “Siervo de los siervos de Dios”. Y este título lo usan los obispos de Roma desde hace 14 siglos. El que es el mayor, nos enseña Jesús, debe hacerse el menor y el servidor de todos. El Papa Francisco nos lo ha recordado en su último viaje a EE.UU y Cuba. El espíritu y el estilo de actividad de la Iglesia se sintetizan en dos palabras: comunión y participación. Estas palabras expresan la idea de que nadie está solo en la Iglesia y en el mundo. Dios nos llama a vivir en comunidad, a formar un solo cuerpo, a servirnos mutuamente. Nadie es tan rico que no tenga nada que recibir; nadie es tan pobre que no tenga nada que dar. Jesús es el Servidor por excelencia. Para servirnos se hizo semejante en todo a nosotros menos en el pecado, como nos recuerda la segunda lectura que leemos este fin de semana. Pasó por nuestros problemas, se compadeció de nuestras debilidades; es por ello que podemos acercarnos con toda confianza, con la seguridad que seremos socorridos. Hay una escena en el evangelio que siempre nos conmueve: Jesús lavando los pies a sus discípulos. El que es el mayor se hace el menor. El que es el primero se convierte en el servidor. Nos da la lección de que la verdadera grandeza está en el servicio .

Saint Anthony Mary Claret Born: December 23rd of 1807
Die: October 24th of 1870 Feast: October 24th
St. Anthony Claret was the founder of the Misionaries of the sons of the immaculate heart of Mary, and they are known as “Claretians” be-cause of St. Anthony Claret. He was the Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba and he participate in many social reforms. After several attempts on his life, St. Anthony went back to Spain and he was the confessor of the Queen Isabel II. Also, he built many libraries, museums, schools in Cuba and Spain.
San Antonio Maria Claret Nacido: 23 de diciembre de 1807.
Muere: 24 de octubre de 1870. Fiesta: 24 de octubre.
San Antonio Claret fue el fundador de los Misioneros de los hijos del inmaculado corazón de María, y se les conoce como "Claretianos" debido a San Antonio Claret. Fue el arzobispo de Santiago de Cuba y
participó en muchas reformas sociales. Después de varios atentados contra su vida, San Antonio regresó a España y fue el confesor de la Reina Isabel II. Además, construyó muchas bibliotecas, museos, escuelas en Cuba y España.
