Sacred Heart Catholic Church Twenty-eighth Sunday of Ordinary Time ~ October 11, 2020 Reflection from the Stewardship Office: Will you accept the invitation? In today’s readings we find an invitation to a grand event. This feast includes only the richest food and the purest wines. The banquet is prepared, and a seat has been reserved for you! The question is, will you accept the invitation? In the parable, we learn that the people who were invited to the feast were too busy to show up. Sadly, this could be you or I on any given day! The challenge of these readings is this: slow down and, in gratitude, accept the invitation to the banquet of the Lord! He has so much joy in store for you, and He wants nothing more than to share it with you! Stewardship does not require you to give up all that you enjoy, but it does require you to quiet your soul enough to hear and answer the gentle invitation of Jesus. Fr. Reflection from the Stewardship Office:

    Will you accept the invitation?

In today’s readings we find an invitation to a grand event. This feast

includes only the richest food and the purest wines. The banquet is

prepared, and a seat has been reserved for you! The question is, will you

accept the invitation? In the parable, we learn that the people who were

invited to the feast were too busy to show up. Sadly, this could be you or I

on any given day! The challenge of these readings is this: slow down and,

in gratitude, accept the invitation to the banquet of the Lord! He has so

much joy in store for you, and He wants nothing more than to share it with

you! Stewardship does not require you to give up all that you enjoy, but it

does require you to quiet your soul enough to hear and answer the gentle

    invitation of Jesus.

    Spiritual Gifts Workshop

Every Christian has a vocation or “mission” in life, a work

of love through which each individual is called to follow

Jesus and for which each individual was created (Ephesian

    4:7-16).

Since we’re all on a mission from God, we need the power

of God to be able to accomplish our mission! Spiritual gifts

are tools given to disciples so that they are able to

accomplish their mission and important clues as to what

their mission in life might be. Each baptized person has

been given these gifts for a specific purpose and for the

    good of others.

St. Catherine of Siena said, "Be who God meant you to be

and you will set the world on fire!" Christians who act out

of their spiritual gifts report feeling fulfilled and joyful

because they know the mission God has given them.

Want to learn more about your spiritual gifts? Join us

for a “Spiritual Gifts Workshop” Oct 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the church with Jackie Arnold. *Social distancing will be

practiced. County health guidelines will be followed*

What is “Value Them Both?” VALUE THEM BOTH is the proposed state constitutional

amendment for life supported by the Catholic Bishops of

Kansas. The amendment is crucial because the Kansas

Supreme Court recently created a nearly unlimited “right”

to abortion, including taxpayer-funded abortion, teens

seeking an abortion without parental knowledge or consent

and late-term abortions. Once passed, the VALUE THEM

BOTH will help protect mothers and their unborn babies by

allowing regulations of the abortion industry. Please pray

for passage of VALUE THEM BOTH.

St. Vincent de Paul Our next meeting will be JANUARY 14TH at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.

    Adoration at Sacred Heart

Adoration will be held in the main part of the church from

3:00 PM-9:00 PM only. Please use the hand sanitizer,

practice social distancing, and clean the area where you

have prayed using the provided disinfectant wipes.

    SACRED HEART SCHOOL

Substitutes Wanted / Paraprofessionals Wanted: If you

or someone you know is interested in substituting at Sacred

Heart Catholic School. Substitutes need to have a teacher

license or an emergency substitute license. To obtain an

emergency substitute license one needs a minimum of 60

college credits. Our school can help you apply for the

license. We also need paraprofessional substitutes to assist

teachers in the classrooms. We suggest a minimum of 30

college credit hours. Please contact Adam Butler at

[email protected] or 442-6550 for more

    information.

    Knights of Columbus News

Council 2614 will conduct its next business meeting

on Monday, October 12th at 7:30 PM in the

    cafeteria.

    Greetings Sacred Heart Parish,

Normally this time of year Knights of Columbus Council

#2614 is planning our 2020 Commitment to Humanities

Tootsie Roll Drive. 80% of the money raised supports our

local Twin Rivers Development Support Services and 20%

goes to the Kansas State Special Olympics.

However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we have had to

limit our Tootsie Roll Drive activities.

Our council will only be handing out Tootsie Rolls and

accepting donations after each Mass this weekend. This

year we will also have small boxes containing 50 Tootsie

Rolls available for a minimum donation of $15.00 per box.

We appreciate the support the Parish has given this fund-

raising activity in the past and hope you can help again this

year. Thank-you. David E. Pankaskie, Community Director

    Council #2614
